Do you have any experience in analogue stereo sound with DV-SP506?
I have compared previous models DV-SP504 and Denon DVD-1930 and I can say that Denon is generally better in sound performance. Onkyo has lower distortion and very smooth sound as to the good power supply and VLSC, but lacking details and space in sound, typical for some Onkyo models. Denon on the other side is more soft and gentle, more spatious and detailed sound, but more distortion.
The difference with the later model is that DV-SP506 use Burr Brown decoders, and DV-SP504 used Cyrrus logic. As I have no experience with the later I can not lean on the specification itself, as DV-SP504 was known for poor CD sound, despite of useing top notch Cirrus logic CS4398 decoder.
Comments on picture quality are also welcome.
Please note that discussion is referd to analogue CD audio output, not digital or HDMI, as digital or optical output always gives the same sound, as it is only a transport.
Thanks.
