My Sony Aw15 has a zoom of 1.6:1 yet throws 80" from 7'9" and my new Sanyo 1080hd has a zoom of 2:1 yet it needs 7' 11" to throw the same image.

Now i simply presumed i could swap out the projectors without any issue, thinking the sanyo could go bigger than the sony so id have to zoom out a little... err but i was wrong.

The starting minimum distance is frequently a little farther back on the better zoom but the PJ can give you a wider range of screen size over a greater throw distance.
