I'm trying to hookup my projector to HDMI and bought cable and DVI adaptor
but I'm getting no signal. I have a run of about 12' and everything looks good but...**%##!
I've tried the right input on the projector ect

Are there different types of DVI connectors?

It should work. What devices are you connecting?

I'm going from a Panasonic blueray to a Sharp older projector(z-2000?) with the DVI input. Now I just noticed that the DvI connector has the 24 pins on one side and just a single(wider) flat pin on the other....the projector has the same but also has 4 inputs around the single input....mabey this is the reason?

I had the same problem hooking up my dvi (projector) to the hdmi on my cable box with an adapter. My first problem was not having the resolution set to what the pj could accept. Secondly my pj is not hdcp compliant and my cable box blocked it. I have to use component cables to use my pj with my hd cable box.

What model projector do you have? I'm guessing:

A. the output resolution is set too high
B. you have a bad cable or adaptor
C. you have an HDCP issue preventing the devices from making a handshake

I'm at work so I'm pretty sure its the Sharp XV-Z12000 DLP

Are you able to test the connection with another display device that takes DVI? Also, you may need to set the resolution from the Blu Ray player to lower setting...if it's too high, there will be no communications...

And how do you get the sound if you use HDMI-DVI?

Finally, reboot after connection at both sides...

There are different types of DVI connections. DVI-A (analog), DVI-D (digital) and DVI-I (integrated, both analog and digital). Find out what type of DVI port your projector has. If it's analog, and HDMI to DVI cable won't work for you.

It does make a difference. Check your documentation or look here:

No, DVI-I is good. It means it supports an analog signal over DVI or a digital signal over DVI. You need to make sure you tell the projector to look for a digital signal. Look for a switch near the DVI port. Better yet, read the manual! Your setup should work, so there's a step you're missing. If you don't have the manual you can find it at www.projectorcentral.com.

What was the issue? Did you have the wrong input selected?
