Hello..

I have a Mitsubisih WD-65734 that I purchased in August of 07. About a month ago, I noticed a humming noise coming from the tv. It sounded like a fan. The noise went away after a couple of days so, I didn't think anything of it. I noticed the picture starting to dim shortly after that and then on Saturday while the tv was on, I heard a pop noise (just like you would when a light bulb goes out) and the picture went out and the tv shut itself off. I've powered up the television since then and I still get a green light on the led indicator and hear a static like noise coming from the tv. Is this the bad bulb making this noise? Also, I'm confused as to why the led indicator light is not red stating the bulb has reached the end of the lamp life?

I don't mind buying a new bulb myself and replacing it, but if something caused the bulb to blow I would like to get that replaced first.

Any suggestions? Does this just sound like the bulb needs to be replaced?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Yes, it sure sounds like you have a lamp problem. Some original lamps had a filter screen with very small mesh that gets completely clogged with dust and stops all airflow which causes overheating and stress to cause the lamp to fail early. The new lamps use a screen with larger mesh that does not get clogged allowing proper air circulation.
