hi all-

i have a mitsubishi 65411 that's about 4 years old and i've been looking at possibly up-grading to a new 73 inch mits or a 67 inch samsung. it's really hard to tell based on looking at best buy, circuit city, etc, if i'll see a huge improvement. if anyone has up-graded from a similiar situation can you post your thoughts?

thanks!

I have not done this upgrade, but we have a Mit 55411 at our fire station, basically the same TV. It has a resolution of 1080i, so the only difference you "should" see will be in the smoothness of motion when you upgrade from 1080i to 1080p, also the newer TVs support 24fps blu-ray, our 411s don't, so that should make it smoother still. For regular HDTV cable watching I would say there little if any difference (since cable is 720p or 1080i anyway). But for Blu-ray you could see an improvement.

The newer TVs have HDMI connections, so you can upconvert SD DVDs on upconverting players or Blu-ray or HD DVD players. Even if you do not have one of the newer players, the newer TVs will upconvert to 1080p.

You will be able to watch Blu-ray movies in HD on your TV if you connect it to your only HD component input, but SD DVDs will only be 480p.
