Hi everyone, first post here, not even sure if i'm in the right place, but let me give it a shot.

I'm trying to setup a server that would capture either HD or nonHD video from a source via component or composite, it would then encode, archive and distribute to the web server the footage. But I'm stuck on which components I should get? Hardware wise. Ideally I wanted to capture HD via component, but can't find any cards that are decently priced to do that.

That's when I thought I would just capture nonHD via composite. Would I be able to do that with a rather cheap capture card?

Yep. Wrong forum. Perhaps try HTPC.
