Hi, I'm doing some home renovation, so I do have an opportunity to install some DirecTV or cable wires. I'm thinking running 2 lines of RG6 to the main rooms, but I'm not sure which ones are more suitable.

I'm currently looking at these from monoprice:
1000ft RG6 Cable - Standard Shield (BLACK)
1000ft RG6 Cable w/Single Quad Shield (BLACK)

I figure one line for the receiver, the other for a DVR? Should the line go straight into the receiver or should it go into a wall plate?

Thanks for any advice.

The first is fine. You can also terminate to wall plates.

The number of runs depends on the dish set up you have, I recommend two to the DVR location and one to the receiver unless you have an SWM set up.

Thanks! I do want to have a SWM setup, but I was thinking about adding a SWM8 in one room and it would branch off into the other rooms. I would say each room should have the potential for a DVR.

If you add an SWM8, it needs 4 runs from the dish to it's location, you can then run a single feed from it and split it to your receiver locations. You can feed 8 tuners (4 DVR's) off of it.
