I know this question may seem dumb, but i have the mits HC1500 it has about 300 hrs. on it. But for the last 200 i have not put the lens cap on after usage. It was lost somewhere. Is this an issue where i need to immediately go out and get one. Or can i continue to do without it?
A lot of people do not use their lens cap. I don't because it messes up the focus every time I install or remove.

Just make sure you never touch the lens element, and use a hand powered camera air blaster to remove any dust that may accumulate, and you should be just fine.

By hand powered camera do you mean hand powered vacuum?

I have never used the lens cap in the more than 2 years I have had my PJ.

Unless you smoke or use an oil based popcorn popper in the same room as the PJ don't worry about using the lens cap ( of course if you do either of those in the same room then you'll probably have more serious PJ issues to worry about than simply cleaning the lens once in a while ;) ) .

just curious =)No, a hand powered air pump. It blasts air out, it doesn't suck air in. (Corrected my previous retarded post.)

It's a rubber ball with a nozzle. You squeeze it and air shoots out. Any camera store will have one.

Pharmacies, too (bulb syringe).

Pharmacies, too (bulb syringe).Bulb syringes suck air in the same way they blow air out. You're more likely to blow contaminants on your lens with a bulb syringe, which is why you want to buy an air blower that draws in air from the back of the bulb.
