I've had my Acer Ph530 now for about a year and a half. I've logged in a bit over 2000 hours and I've started to get the urge to buy me a new one. My budget is less than $1000. I haven't been keeping up with all the new projectors that are out. Is it worth it to get a sub $1000 projector if I already have a Acer Ph530. Will I notice that much of a better pic. I love my Acer, but I would like better shadow detail and maybe a brighter picture. Thanks guys

I agree or if you want lens shift a panasonic ax200, but at this point I might wait until 1080p prices drop.

Not being too familiar with PH530 I read this:

Dropping $1k to get a slightly better picture doesn't seem worth it does it? Sure an AX-200U when placed side-by-side would look better. Trouble is, you aren't cross shopping the Acer with the Panny - you already own the Acer!
So it is not like the situation in the article where you are shopping and there is a $200-300 between the two. You are basically looking at dropping a pile of money to get a relatively small improvement.
At this point, I agree with gwlaw99 - stick with your 720p machine until the 1080p units come down in price. That way, when you do spend the money, you know that the extra dollars got you something special. :)
