Some one gave me a Yamaha DSP-A1 recivever. I'd like to try putting together my first home theater room. The room is a small, spare bedroom that measures 12 ft. x 12 ft. I was thinking of Bose, but every time I ask people about it, they either choke or laugh. What other speakers would you recomend for this environment. Thanks for the help.

Up to $1,200. You know, I'd like to include a subwoofer of some kind, full range.

hows about 5 mirage nanosats and or 5 polk rti4's (which have been stereophile recommended in the past) or 4 polk monitor 30/40's and a polk matching center and an intro level velo sub? should work well in your room and meets your budget..
