I recently picked up a Mitsubishi WD-60735 on black Friday.

It was a good price so I picked it up.

The TV is a 60" DLP. I heard nothing but good things about DLP so I was hyped up about getting a DLP at a good deal.

I was ready to be blown away.....I really wasnt.

I had directv HD via HDMI set to 1080i,which is the highest resolution.

The picture was ok at best but didnt have the brightness and picture detail of my Westinghouse 47" and I know Westinghouse inst the best.

So I put in a Blu-ray (which is set for 1080p via HDMI) agian....it was ok but not like the LCD I had before.

If anything it looks a little worse.

I put in swordfish....it didn't look anywhere close to the LCD.
I swapped out almost all of my blu ray movies and they just didnt do it for me.
Kung fu panda looked good but could of been better.

My seating is 10' from the tv. I cant move any further back, but if I could would the DLP look any better?

I did the advanced calibrating that is on this site and it helped a little.

Is LCD superior in terms of picture quality and over brightness?

I really don't wanna pay someone $300 to come out when that's almost half the price of the tv and my LCD looked great without any calibrating.

Anyone help me out?:)

Were you unable to adjust the Brightness and other color settings for the source you were using to display on the TV.
You should not have to pay someone and set these settings for each of your different video cable sources to values you and the members of your household like.

i can adjust everything with no problems....but it just doesnt do it for me

could it be the screen size shown the limits of HD?

I guess it is all about what your used to. I feel my new Sony LCD doesn't hold a candle to my DLP. And I find the LCD's presets are awful where as the DLP's were quite watchable.

However both need to be setup correctly as neither is close to what it can be out of the box. Default settings are designed to sell TV's on a store shelf and not to be accurate.

Get a setup disk and some gels and that will get you close. The two are very different in terms of setup.

Best of luck with your new DLP.

Mine is a Sammy... and I like the picture. But unfortunately I can't recommend them as the three I have had are built like crap and failed within a year or two (and their customer service sucks).

My bus. partner has a Mitsy and is pleased with it; although it has developed problems way too soon as well.

I think it is the nature of the beast.

Certainly the bigger the screen the grainer the picture can look especially with porgrans "filmed" with SD cameras.
However for HD programs 60" should not cause any problem at 10'.
It is true that the LED do not have as much brightness available as other HDTVs however the High brightness of the other units is available so the units will look better when in a showroom with flouresant lighting with the factory default brightness level.

Sorry to hear about your experience with this TV. I have had my Mitsu 60735 for about 6 months now and absolutely love it. I went into the service menu and changed some settings based on another thread about these sets located in this forum and I got great results. My TV is extremely bright now. HD at 1080i looks outstanding and anything Blu-Ray from my PS3 looks stunning at 1080P. My only slight complaint is the black level...I would have expected a little more with current technology but it does look better allot better than the 4 year old DLP it replaced.

I love my 60735 and it has a much better picture than my 42" panny plasma. Make sure your settings are not off, or that you're not sitting too close. With a bluray, it ought to look incredible.

i dont know what to do

I really want to keep this tv

most SD programing looks terrible, but thats pretty normal from any HDTV.

I need to find out why my tv looks so blurry.....any input?

its as if there isnt much color seperation and no HD pop or bright color......kinda hard to describe

Yeah, I'd say try to post some picts. At 10', the set is WAY smaller than recommended for THX/SMPTE (if you put any value in that) but the bottom line you shouldn't see too many artifacts.

Using a blu ray is the best way to compare because if you are looking at a sat/cable feed, obviously the source quality is all over the place.

I'm not sure what the problem is -- I own both a Samsung and Mits DLP, and they both look great. I also have a plasma and my DLPs blow it away. Granted, DLPs have some disadvantages, such as viewing angles.

Bottom line, though, you may just have a natural preference for plasma/lcd, so stick with what you enjoy, if you can rule out any problems with the set.

Wow -- that does look crappy -- but I'm not sure how much of that is from the flash or not ... also, not familiar with the source so hard to get a benchmark.

I'd recommend trying to get some test patterns up to test convergence and geometry... then adjust the color. A quick pick up is the DVE Essentials disc -- most folks will tell you to get it professionally calibrated but using a disc like that (it comes on blu ray) is a fantastic way to get it 80% of the way there in minutes.
