I ordered this component (http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/ProductDetails/line/AVFoundations/pcat/vertical/modelCode/VF5023/) without reading the manual. After I read the manual I immediately noticed the following warning:
"CAUTION: This product is designed for use in wood frame walls only! The wall must be capable of supporting up to five times the weight of the monitor and mount combined. If you have any doubts about the ability of the wall to support the monitor, contact Sanus Systems Customer Service, or a qualified contractor."
I rent, so I bought this unit because I was looking for a compromise between running cables through the wall or letting them hang. I thought this unit would do perfect in hiding cables since it is so flush to the wall.
I am in no-way a handy person and unable to tell whether my wall is wood-frame or not, let alone whether it can carry this unit + TV monitor's 5 times the weight. Considering all the components that will go on the unit, we are talking about a lot of weight here. Unit so sturdy and each shelf can carry up to 75 lbs, so you do the math.
Any help please! I really don't want the wall falling apart! I can post pics of my wall if that will be of any help.
