I'm not sure if this is the right section but I'll give it a shot. I'm building a stand for my TV which will have a shelf for my center channel. Only the front will be open and I'm concerned about what impact that might have on the sound of the speaker. I've read that in situations like this it's a good idea to fill the shelf with acoustic batt to kill any reflections. That would look pretty bad, IMO but I was wondering if lining the sides and top with acoustic foam would work. Does anyone have any advice? Also, if this is the right way to go, is there a source for relatively small quantities of foam? I checked out Auralex but didn't see anything in the single square category. I only would need +/- 12 SF.

If not foam, what would you suggest?

BTW, here's a pic (sorry it's sideways):

Google acoustic foam. A Lot of sites sell it by the piece.

Okay, that takes care of the source part. Thanks. Now, does anyone have an opinion whether lining the cavity with foam will do the trick or am I better off filling it with batt and then adding an acoustically transparent cover to hide the batt?
