Can you do me a quick favor? I am having a problem with my machine that I want to know whether my machine is broken, has a wrong setup, or anything.

When I press the "display" button on the remote, the on-screen menu shows up as supposedly. The weird thing is that the menu will disappear by itself within a few seconds so that I am not able to make any setup change on that menu. I learn from the manual that the menu is supposed to stay until I press the "display" button again. Can you check yours and tell me whether you have a similar problem? Thanks in advance.

I have a EH-55 which just lacks the VHS section of your EH-75. Could it be that you have a sticky "display" button? Maybe it keeps transmitting the display command or sends it twice? Other than that I wouldn't have a clue. My EH-55s never done that.

Thanks for the prompt reply. No, it is not the button becoming sticky.

Just notice that pressing the "Functions" button shows a similar problem. Weird.

This is just a WAG but there is a setup option called "disable status messages" possible if that's enabled maybe it could be causing it? Worth a check anyway. It's located in the setup menu, which if you can't display may not be easy to check:confused:
I've disabled status messages on a few of my machines and don't remember the behavior your describing.

thanks for the suggestion. The on-screen menu vanishes way too fast for me to be able to see what is there.

My EH75 does not have this issue. It seems very odd, and annoying.

A little late to the party, but the on-screen display stays around until I press the "Display" button a second time.
