I am looking for a new sub. Looking at Axiom Ep350 v3 andthe SVS SB-12 Plus. It will be in a area about 3200 cubic feet. I want a good accurate sub on music that will play pretty loud if I need it to...for a party. I want something that will do a really good job at lows in movies as well. I just don't want something that will bottom out or have a lot of resonance. I don't need it to knock down pictures off the wall. I just want good bass that sounds great that is tight and accurate. Which would you guys choose between these? The reason I have looked at these is floor space really. The Axiom is actually about the upper limits in size. Any info would be really appreciated as I plan on putting my order in tonight. Thanks for all the great info so far!

I know that HSU is an awesome company. I guess since I had a downfiring sub I was hoping to get a front firing. Against my hardwood floors it just seemed to bounce off everything too much...the sound that is. Are there advantages of front firing vs. down firing?

The designer chooses that in order to make things fit, port lengths, (baskets, amp)etc...
No advantages that I know of...
You can get a pad or a carpet to put the sub on it...That is no problem.
HSU subs are very clean and have great extension...

What does extension mean when you are talking about subs?

What you want a sub to do is to cover effectively all frequencies from the LFE channel...Soundtracks contain different freqs.
So the more frequencies the sub is able to play accurately, the better in this case. Many audiophiles here like a sub that play strong from 10hz to 80hz at least, but that isn't easy to get...(Size and price complicate things too much..HAHAH)
You want a sub that plays clean and loud, at least from 20hz to say, 100hz.The lower freqs(ex.20hz-lower) are difficult to reproduce faithfully so a very good sub is required...
