Just wondering what are Sonys best 32" FullScreen 'Progressive' CRTs?
Currently i have one of Sonys last 32" 480i Wega trinitron CRTs, but would totaly love to have progressive Scan for movies and gaming(Wii and PS3 in general)...and no i'm not going HD with either LCD or Plasma since they have inferior PQ compared to CRT.

And i know i could go with the Sony 34" 1080i/480p HDTV CRT...but it's smaller 34" throws me off....if it were 40" i'd be down since that matches a 32" Fullscreen displays height-wise from top to bottum and that's the perfect size for playing Wii if you ask me.

PS: ok I found 2 Sony 32" Fullscreen CRT displays that are capable of 480p

Sony KV-32HS420 > http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KV-32HS420-32-Inch-Trinitron-HD-Ready/dp/B0002HVIBG

Sony-KV-32HS500 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KV-32HS500-Flat-Screen-HDTV-Monitor/dp/B00006AMAN

Now, the Question is, which one is better and where in the hell can i find one of these badboys?
Also, i take it these 1080i HDTV CRTs have both 480p and 1080i as native resolutions...yet the 1080i isn't true '1080'HD, it's lower.
....Oh and the HS420 also has an HDMI input.

I would shop your local Craigslist, as people generally sell the 32" models for $100-$200. Beware of the "HDTV Ready" models, as they require an external digital tuner. (If you remember that was back in the era designated by TV makers as "opposite time"- "ready" meant "not ready").

Nearly all Sonys from that era will be capable of 480p output, HDTVs will also output 1080i. They may or may not accpet 720p input signals, however, as that was a feature of second and thrid gen HDTVs.

You say you want it for playing Wii, why not a 34" widescreen model then? I though the Wii has a lot of 16:9 games.

I would discourage you from the 40", as they're 300 lb monsters, and while they're awesome when working, you can't get tubes for them anymore. And you don't want to have one serviced.

The Sony XBR 34" may have widescreen(which i obviously want to) and progressive, but it's only 34"...it would take a 40" widescreen display to match my current 32" Fullscreen CRT from top to buttom ,and that's what i want....So i guess a 40" widescreen CRT is out of the question.

Anyways, I'd rather ditch the widescreen and get more screen size from top to bottum. Oh and another thing, i'm confused with the specs on these two displays....i mean both can do 480p 'and' 1080i perfectly? so there's 2 resolutions just like on the 34" XBR?...i mean i remember hearing CRTs cant do true progressive, but then again that doesn't sound right. Besides that, if i do go with one of these models hopefully it can match the PQ of my current Sony CRT which i baught back in 05'

That looks like my set! I have the 32HS510, same stand. It does have lower resolution, about 800 lines across, due to the color phosphor dot size. The Wide Sony 34XBR910/960/XS955 have 1400 lines across, SFP Super Fine Pitch dots. They made a 36XS955 with Fine Pitch tube as well, 4:3 full screen. That TV ad is worth a look, try it out, see what you think of it. Some need repair see This topic (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=928945). Sound system is better than most, has a little woofer inside.
