I'm planning a media room, both for HT impact, as well as looks, since my hope is that the HT room will be a selling point of the home. From what I've read, I've got pretty good dimensions for acoustics, but I have a few issues. 1. 1/3 down one wall, I have a vent pipe 12" that protrudes from the wall has to be wrapped. I've thought of curving the wall around it, building an architectual feature from it, plus duplicating the same affect on the opposite wall for symetry.
2. To make the most impact, I want to walk in the room and see the TV. On the attached drawing, you see two possible door locations. My plan is for bookcases on the back wall, but a door on the same wall would be easier to build than from the side, where I have to add a small vestibule. Plus this will place the subwoofers over the outside porch in this configuration, which I hope will help with sound transmission to other areas of the house. My concern is over the need for windows, to meet code and how this will affect acoustics with my BP2000 bipolar speakers. see drawing
3. I want to have the TV (61" Samsung RP) built into the wall, but with bipolar speakers DT BP2000), they need to be off the wall some. I know TV, center speaker and L/R need to be parallel, so what can I do. I thought of a curved front wall, but will this affect my bipolar performance?
4. To help with diffusing the ceiling, as well as enhance the looks, I've thought of irregular slats, like in stagger fence pattern mounted to the ceiling, just to provide some diffusion. It wouldn't be sound absorbtion, most like wood, but would diffuse the sound.

Here's what I have, equipment wise.
61" Samsung LED rear projection
Denon 3808CI Receiver
BP2000 Definitive Technology L/R Speakers w/ a DT center speaker as well.

Note:
Suggestion on surround speakers, that won't break the bank would be helpful since they have not been purchased. (the speakers will go with the house and will be in-wall)
Ceiling Ht is 8'

I've attached a proposed drawing, that gives the layout. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome. :)

Instead of a curved wall, consider a column, matched on the other wall.

If the column was wide enough, it could hide side speakers. Consider 4 total columns.

Seems more like a dedicated home theater, than a 'media room'.

Check out the dedicated HT subforum.

Put the time in, doing research here on AVS. Overwhelming number of considerations. ;)
