Nice- hopefully they'll cover some good hot stove rumors.

unfortunately, I feel the channel has really gone down hill since the merger.

I don't know why they felt the need to jumble everything up. And I'm not liking any of the new host combos or the new hosts so far. I'm disappointed as I could always rely on good ole 175.

Yep. 175 was the main reason for subscribing to XM.

Certainly not as good now as it was before 10/08. We'll see what happens when spring training begins....

Yea I'm sure it will pick up once they have a ton of stuff to cover with spring training.

For most baseball fans, the games are the main reason for subscribing to XM. Listening to Tigers' games is far and away the main reason I subscribe. I listen to Home Plate quite a bit (especially in the offseason), but it's gravy compared to the games, which are the meat and potatoes.

For the record, I'm not crazy about the changes, but it seems like it's settling down. Plus, they always muck things up a bit in the offseason, so let's see how it shapes up once the season gets under way.

True enough. We'll wait.

But the Sirius guys so far have made a mess of 175.

BTW, the baseball games ARE a good enough reason to subscribe.... :D

Yeah...it's too bad Charlie Steiner is gone. I also don't get why they broke up Kennedy and Dibble, who were great together. Neither of them really seen comfortable with their new co-hosts yet.

wow, i am surprised how negative this post has gotten. I've always had sirius so I am new to this channel. I absolutely love it! Although, obviously based on the comments it must have been awsome before. Oh well, I guess im better off late than never! I'm still not sure the actual games are going to be included in the best of xm. They better be!

You got to look around at the other threads here. ;)

If SXM files for bankruptcy there's a good chance even XM won't have baseball, and Sirius won't have the NFL, and......Well you get the picture.

You may be on to something here. I just heard a promo on the home plate channel that said something like listen to the yankees twins game on xm 176. HOWEVER, there was no mention of a sirius channel. If mlb games aren't going to be on sirius, then I'm afraid that will be the last straw with me. Sadly.

If XM doesn't have baseball, then that's it for me...I'm out. I'll cancel. It's the only reason we got it in the first place, really...

Last week SXM got a $500 million bail-out from Liberty Media/DirecTV.

I haven't heard anything official but that should mean the MLB contract is all paid up and safe until SXM's next hurdle, their $300 million payment in May.

It looks like XM has baseball, but Sirius don't. So all you baseball fans out there you might have to sign up for an XM subscription. This is the MLB call, not SXM..

Orbitcast:

With the 2009 Spring Training season literally right around the corner, satellite radio subscribers have been anxiously waiting to find out if a deal will be announced between Major League Baseball and Sirius XM Radio Inc., in hopes that MLB games will air on the Sirius side of the service.

But baseball fans may need to wait a bit longer, according to an Orbitcast source.
In mid-December, subscribers to the "Best of XM" package were quietly greeted with a pleasant surprise: the MLB Home Plate channel suddenly began airing on Sirius. To many, this seemed like a prelude to an announcement that the play-by-play MLB games would be broadcasting on the "Best of XM" package.

MLB has been broadcasting exclusively on XM since the 2005 season.

But according to an Orbitcast source, the Sirius side of the service will not be getting any 2009 Spring Training games and even Regular Season MLB games on the "Best of XM" package seem unlikely at this time.

In early October 2008, representatives from Sirius XM told Orbitcast that while the company had not yet reached an agreement with the MLB, they "continue to be hopeful that the MLB will be part of the package in the future."

That hope remains alive, however, as Sirius XM and Major League Baseball continue to be in "heavy negotiations," our source says.

Less than two weeks ago, reports circulated that Sirius XM was trying to renegotiate pricey contracts, including with Major League Baseball. Mel Karmazin reportedly met with top MLB officials in New York, but there are no indications that talks went in Karmazin's favor.

The league's COO Tim Brosnan, who negotiates the MLB's television and radio deals, had only one comment to say on the matter: "We have a binding agreement that we intend to honor."

Let's see if that agreement can be modified before the regular season begins.

For some reason I think no news is bad news on this issue. You would think there would be something regarding getting these games on the air.

As of right now MLB won't allow it.

You have 2 choices..

1) buy an XM radio and get a sub on XM

2) get one of the new Mirge all in one radio they just released. It picks up everything from both services..

or get the radio feed from mlb.com (pretty cheap).

That mirge looks awsome, and I already have the audio package via mlb.com. However, I have a sportster 5 now, a home kit, and a boombox. two car kits and two fm direct adapters. This is my 4th sirius radio over the last 7 years. I feel like I've already spent more than I should have. I love the product, but i just can't rationalizing spending even more money. Especially with the new prices.

I called Sirius corporate on Thursday 04/16/09 about the issue of MLB not being a part of the Best of XM package and to inquire as to when it will be added. After waiting on hold for 22 minutes, the adviser returned with good news...

Complete MLB play-by-play coverage will begin on the Best of XM starting May 1st, 2009 !!!

I hope it's not ********!!

If this is true, I am going to start my best of XM sub May 1st. But I am not going believe it until it happens.

I already have best of XM. I really don't want to invest in the MIRGE and all of the other crap necessary to switch (car docks, home docks, antenna, etc. Let's see what happens on May 1st.

Called today to see if I could get any type of deal when swapping out one of my subs for a Mirge and all that goes with it. The CSR advised me to wait. He said that they had just received word that MLB play-by-play will be added the 2nd week of June.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying. :-)
