I didn't see this posted yet so here you go:
http://www.mitsubishi-hometheater.com/pdf/MIR-120108-013109-HC1600.pdf
Offer expires 1/31/2009
Considering you can get this projector for under $800 this is a great deal.

Saw this in another thread a couple of days ago. There is only about one thing that could've made me regret my projector purchase, and this is it.:( I suppose it could be worse -- I could've bought the HC1600 earlier without the free bulb and rebate. May be time for a buyer's remorse thread...

I bought mine in October without the free bulb and rebate lol, but I don't regret it too much because I love the 100" display I have been enjoying for the past two months.

Have etailers raised their prices to correspond? Where's the best deal? Pardon my laziness; I'm not going to buy one, just curious how good a deal this is for future reference.

The "big river" usually has the best deal on this model.

Heh that was funny. Unfortunately I too hail from the land of the Big River, so have sales tax, but this is an unreal deal. I already own the original HD1000u.

FYI, the rebate fulfillment company has gone bankrupt.
http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=72322&t=1015491

I just place my order and wondering if I should cancel.

Mitsubishi knows about this and I am suprised why they have not corrected this.
I will call them on Monday.
If I don't get a satisfying response, the item will go back to the merchant.

At Big River there are quite a few Mitsubishi rebates going so I suspect someone will have to pony up the rebates or it will be ugly for the merchant.

Also, I thought the rebate read that Mitsubishi will be fulfilling the bulbs, so even without the $100, the bulb makes this a great deal.

beware! the big river is not an authorized dealer.

the pdf file says it will take some 3 weeks to process the check and the lamp will take another 12 weeks from the date of check issue. So it is not like they ship an extra bulb with the PJ. Looks like by the time the free bulb is sent, the bulb warranty on the first bulb would have expired :-)

BTW: if that rebate company is going bankrupt and if they dont process the check at all, then there wont be any record of the rebate application and then the free bulb deal will also fall apart. right?

Why cant they just give the free bulb and $100 right away along with the purchase. or why not just drop the price and send the bulb along with the PJ.

I also wonder why some authorized dealers dont have the same low price as the river. Actually I have seen price lower than the river! but again not authorized online dealer.

Can we please put this to rest by either confirming that someone was denied a rebate from Mitsubishi because of Big River not being on the Authorized list... OR ... by someone confirming they have received a rebate from a purchased Mitsubishi product purchased through Big River.

For some reason Mupi seems hellbent to discourage everyone from buying Mits products through Big River. If Mupi is correct and Mitsubishi is not going to honor the rebates, then I for one will be contacting Big River and returning the Projector.

I guess the rebate only started recently so it will be at least 3-4 weeks before anyone hears about the rebate. If you ask the river they will obviously say that they are authorized. The river sells a lot of stuff. There is virtually nothing that one cant find at the river. They cant be authorized dealers for everything. They even sell Infocus IN76! So buying from the river is no different than buying from an auction site unless they are listed as an authorized dealer by the manufacturer or if the manufacturer could confirm it by email or phone.

If you just go to Mits web site the river is not listed. There is another online store (one of the avenues) that sells it even cheaper than the river.

I am not discouraging. Just warning. People are welcome to ignore it and make their own decision.

If it was like a CRT TV i.e very reliable technology, I would not bother about warranty and buy it from the river. At $750 it is a good deal even without any rebate or bulb, if it would last 5-6 years like a CRT TV!

Anyway... I will watch this and if anyone confirms that the river is authorized then I will sell my
Planar PD7060 (I have put only 3 hrs, didnt like it as it is much louder than IN72) and get the HC1600

This is a good example of what credit card purchase protection was designed for. Besides a quick search at Big River turns up a sizable amount of Mits rebates, so I can't imagine Big River or Mits wanting the amount of bad publicity that would accompany denying all the rebates.. can you?

If you go to mitsubishi-hometheater.com big river is listed as authorized. This is Mitsubishi's HT site. The rebate is listed on big river, CC, Newegg, and just about every other retailer on the web. I am not worried in the least. No way Mitsubishi will list a rebate on their company website along with retailers as large as Newegg and Circuit City, and not honor it. Virtually every retailer on the web is offering the rebate plus lamp. I ordered mine today. If you do a little searching, the bankrupt processor handles many, many, many large corporations such as motorola, home depot, newegg, canon, costco, etc. I highly doubt there is a mail in rebate global shutdown. Also, previous to this promotion, there was a $100 rebate minus the extra lamp. That link from the deal forum announcing global rebate downfall was posted on 11-14-08. The $100 promotion ran until 11-30-08. Why would mitsubishi run another promotion after the bankruptcy filing if they had no intentions of honoring it. I wouldn't even think twice. Between mitsubishi and amazon, someone will take care of it. Still used my CC gift cards and they filed for bankruptcy protection. Buy now while the deals are good.

Excellent catch. I feel silly I missed the Mits-HT site online retailer list.

In this economy, manufacturers and merchants are desperate enough to pull anything (I still remember the Soyo trick).
This is a good opportunity to point the finger at the other guy while pocketing the money.

If many manufacturers/merchants pull this, it would be hard to boycott them.

That said, I am in. :)

This is a killer deal. I paid only $550 for my HC1500 but you guys are getting a free bulb for just $100 more. Can't beat that.

BUY THAT SHI...!!!

There is no better projector deal going on right now.

Why wouldn't it come? I've never heard of Big River not honoring their purchases. ;)

I know the HC1500 is better but right now there is NO other projector that can be had for $650 new from authorized source with a free bulb.

Is it true that the spare bulb with the HC1600 is also the replacement bulb for the HD1000U and the HC1500?

If so then thats great news. :)

What I meant was if the Rebate check and the Bulb comes.. I have no doubt that the projector will come but you sometimes dont know about rebate companies! I ordered mine almost a week ago and is not scheduled to come till this friday! Can't wait to get this thing up specially with all the bowl games coming up!

I am in on this deal. Long time CRT user, just sold my house with my modified marquee 8500 as extra buyer incentive. I actually had a CC order for the HD71, which I canceled to get this. The price at CC is really good on that unit, but the reliability seems pretty poor. Plus tax, with a 3 yr would have put me at almost twice the cost of this unit. I debated shelling out $100 extra for a DT-510, but the extra bulb and $100 rebate is just too irresistible. The lower speed wheel stinks, but for this price I will try it. It can always go up on ebay if I can't stand the RBE.

Kind of my philosophy on this also. I have a HC1500 still going strong so if RBE is an issue, then I'll pop the bulb out and use the HC1500.

Either way, it's a great deal and i'm guessing a used HC1600 with 1500 hrs in a yr from now will still bring $300 + on e bay.

OK - I'm in.
Going from a 4805 with no RBE. However, the X1 before that could get me pretty good with it... was that a 2X like the 1600?

cjsiv
12-30-08, 05:35 PM
The X1 is a 2x wheel like the 1600. I am currently selling my x1 as I just updated the the hc1600 so I recently checked. I don't have rainbow issues, though. Your sp4805 has a 4x.

Received the HC1600 today from the big river. The overall picture without much calibration is quite impressive so far. However, the RBE can be quite evident, as it was on my X1. It can be most visible for example when viewing images like the cross-hatch pattern in the menu, or a THX Optimizer screen on a Star Wars DVD. High contrast light - dark scenes are a bummer.

Why on Earth would Mit go from a 4X to an 2X - to gain a few lumens? Bad move I think. My next rig may just turn out to be an 1080p LCD next year... I had no problems with my old 4X 4805 and Rainbows by the way.

Got mine 3 days ago. RBE is horrid. My old infocus x1 with 2x was nowhere near this bad. Didn't think I had a rainbow problem until now. Goin back.

Got mine and returning it.

RBE is the worst I have ever seen.
Even my X1 from 6 years ago did not have that much RBE.

The IQ is also sub-part to something like an IN72.
The brightness is not all that; it is barely on part with the IN72.

wow its kinda of crazy hearing all of the problems people have been having with RBE on this projector. I'm so glad I dont see it even when I try.

anyone know what is required to comply with the invoice requirement if purchased from the big river place? Does the confirmation email count or are they looking for something more official which I don't think I received. Don't want to get a rejection twelve weeks in the future due to bad documentation.

Thanks
