Yamaha NS-P610 to a Pioneer VSX-918V-K
According to Yamaha I should NOT run the supplied cable to the receiver if its going to a sub pre-out. Instead I should run 2 cables to another output but I don't think the receiver has any others I could use.
Should I use a Y splitter to the subs 2 RCA outs?

I'll also be hooking up a Direct tv HR-22,Toshiba DVR and a Panasonic TH-42PZ800U TV
Everything through the TV or through the receiver?
Tried to post links but it wont let me:(
Yea I'm a newb
Thanks for your help

Show us a picture of the subs inputs and we can tell you what goes where.

I don't have the paperwork with me but if I remember correctly theirs 2 rca's
It said to use the top one (right channel I think) with the supplied 13ft. cable to sub out of the receiver Then in a highlighted box it said If the output is labeled Sub Pre-out on the receiver, then use both rca's to another output of the receiver

Thanks Kal
Judging from your amount of posts I'm assuming its safe to take your advice.
I'll get it hooked up when I get back home next week.

Here's a link to the speakers. It has a pic of the back of the sub.
I'll just be using these in a den so I dont need anything too powerful.

Hook the line level (sub out) from the receiver to either one of the left or right inputs (most people use the left) on the sub.

The sub appears to be an either/or type. However I could not find the users manual on the Yamaha website.

I'd try speaker level hookups to it first and see if it works ok. This should not harm anything. Basically you wire the sub up in parallel with the main left and right speakers. The sub apparently has the xo inside to filter the frequencies it wants from those it doesn't reproduce. Lots of extra wire, I know but it should only take 18 or 20 gauge wire. Not much current running to the sub.

What you say here makes sense. They did come with 2 extra wires.
I was a little leery of getting them for such a cheap price and a search turned up very little info on them. They must be a yr. or 2 old and walmart is just getting rid of them cheap. They were the only speakers I could find that weren't black!

Understand that this speaker system is NOT in any way going to overwhelm your listening room. The total shipping weight for the 6 speaker boxes is only 46 pounds. It may however, provide a balanced pleasing sound if you can believe the reviews.

Try here, I just downloaded the USERS MANUAL since I just ordered this set, I wanted to see what you all were talking about.

Looks like you use the sub output on the AVR to the L input on the Sub and your good to go:)

Seems like I have to have 3 post to link a URL
