I have been watching blu ray fine on my pc using my sony tv as a monitor.
I have just connected a HDMI/DVI so I can watch through TV. but I am still watching Blu Ray on as normal PC monitor. Im sure the AV7 is the correct channel because the 1080i reads in the top corner, and I can see my desk top, but it just flashes, and there is no Blu Ray movie playing.
any ideas.

DVI displays don't always like the HDMI signal. In fact the EDID handshake can be negated and the signal dropped. You will need to break the HDMI signal out into separate DVI/Audio signals. The RTCom HDC is designed for this purpose.
