Hey guys,
been reading here for a while now, trying to soak up as much as i can, but have finally decided to register and start posting.

My Question:
I have comcast and just purchased my first LCD TV. In order to get the HD service (so that my image isn't all scewed), i have to rent their HD reciever. Can i just buy an HD reciever so that i don't have to pay $8.99 a month? What are my options for getting HD on this TV? (aside from buying an antenna that from what i understand, would only give me the local channels).

thank you so much everyone

thank you so much everyoneYour HDTV can receive local HD from Comcast with its QAM tuner.

If you want other HD, like ESPN, TNT, etc., you either need a CableCARD device like the TiVo HD or an HDTV with CableCARD built in, or rent a cable box.

You should be able to get ABC, NBC,CBS, and FOX local HD channels on your TV alone off of the cable. Box or equivalent required for all the rest.
