Description
This is my first attempt at a home theater and I need some advice on speaker placement and selection. If you look at the pics you'll see the room has two openings on one side and 50" above the fireplace on the other. The main viewing place will be directly across from the tv. The room is 13x22 with 10' ceiling.

Questions
-1stMy first question is should I use a center speaker sitting to the left of the fireplace or go with a phantom set up?

-2ndSecond is should I go with pair of speakers in the rear corners only or do I need rear ones on the center wall behind/beside the couch?

Equipment
I just picked up an onkyo receiver, my speaker plans are a pair of infinity primus p362 for fronts, ed a2-300 sub, infinity 162s for the rear corners, and if recommended some sorta infinity beside the couch.

Since you posted as wanting suggestions/comments re your "Home Theater" please let me suggest that you consider adding a screen that can motor or pull down over that nice little television to allow you to actually achieve Theater in the Home simply defined as: "The creation in one's home as near as possible the visual experience of a Commercial Theater".

I have a friend with a similar looking room - high ceiling - fireplace - etc. In this room seating allows viewers to see his 60 inch HD tv but also allows viewers to see his Theater screen.

Home Theater experience means everyone in the room goes, "WOW, this is just like being at the movies!!!!" and with all due respect to those that make 'em and sell 'em NO television on the market to day can deliver Theater in the Home.

I know - projector and separate screen seems so complicated to implement but it is so necessary if you want Theater.

We started about 2 yrs ago with a VERY nice 56in HD TV - true 1080p - we learned that nice tv can't equal Theater SO we bought a 720p projector and Screen and - Shaaazam!! - Theater in the Home arrived.

Many that post on this forum will say a 120 inch diagonal image really isn't big enough but to our personal eyeballs and our relatively small room it is plenty Big and plenty Theater and plenty Awesome!!

No criticism intended - bigger televisions are very nice - just consider stepping up and when the lights go down and the big screen lights up you will be so happy to be "at the movies" in your very own home!!
