If this is the wrong place to post this kind of question i appologize. i am getting The dark Knight for x-mas and i won't have time to watch the movie before our company arrives for christmas dinner. And they are excited to experiment what my HT can do. All I hear is The Dark Knight has some awesome LFE. Could some of you guys please give tracks and scenes in this movie so I can play them for my company. I saw this movie in the theater but i won't have time to play with the movie before they arrive. Thanks

Seems sort of like cheating to me...:p I could tell you but something is keeping from doing it. I think you should read around abit and at least see if you can find some info...You can start in the DVD masterlist thread.

There's one scene with lots of LFE near (2/3s of the way through)the end (Hospital explodes)......

I don't understand what you mean by "cheating". If I had the time to preview the movie before my family gets here then I would'nt have any problem. But unfortunately I don't have thet luxury. I did search the master thread, I didn't read 90 pages of it but mostly what I saw was a lot of people talking about how good the lfe is in batman. A couple of peoples subwoofer clupped. But I din't see any actual scenes or tracks listed on the movie where I should skip to, to show off my HT. I am sorry is I offended you with my cheating, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks again for responding.

The fact of the matter is it's only been out a few days and it will be a few more before Chapters, Tracks, Waterfalls etc. are done for this movie.

But, for 10 million dollars a year for the rest of my life I'll tell you...:D:p

I don't have the blu-ray yet (only a HD rip on my harddrive), so i can't give you chapters. I can give you some scenes and times where there is a lot of action (and LFE action) going on:

I think the best scene is the "chase" scene. The action starts from around 1:15:20
That scene has 6-7 minutes of great LFE action

Next is the "hospital" scene. At around 1:51:55 the explosions start. At 1:52:32 the "BIG" explosion start.

Another good demo scene would be near the end with the batman vs swat. The music starts around 2:06:10 and the music + the action on screen, will deliver some great LFE action.

That's about it. If you really want a good demo for sound (and picture) I would suggest Transformers. It has better action (soundwise) and some huge LFE effects.

Any scene with the batmobile...when the tires start spinning, so does your room. Sorry not sure on chapters and timing.

Sorry,But this movie won't show them.It has bass, yes,But not demo quality bass. You need The Incredible Hulk or Cloverfield for that.

I agree that the bass was very good but not reference quality.

The video on Blu Ray was the best I have seen yet. The 16:9 portions were filmed in IMAX.

I am going to watch Dark Knight tonight. If it's like the other recent BM movies, I wouldn't use it as demo material. The video is too dark and won't show off your TV/projector. I would use something like The Hulk, battle in the park scene, or Die Hard 4, truck vs JSF on underpass scene, or Pearl Harbor attack scene... These are good LFE scenes, but are also better on the video side.

Careful what you choose as the source may expose any weaknesses in your system. If you are proud of your system and want to show it off, choose material you are familiar with. Choosing an unknown may cause slight embarrassment.

Why don't you try and get your hands on some of the demo discs from this thread?

i agree with the hulk, out of this world bass, crappy movie.
but on my system dark knight was banging. twin towers with room treatments all around. only problem i had with the dark knight was the woman, dont remember her name, so damn ugly. could they have found a uglier woman, just not believable.
if your system is right it wont matter what movie, as long as there is bass.
i would suggest u-571, or batman begins.

TDK, Chapter 20-22, are great.

While watching the Dark Night last evening my Velo took a shot and could not recover. Very loud hum now. I posted in the Velo support thread for some possible things to look at but thought I would share my sadness as I am out of woofage for the weekend.

I have both TDK and TIH on blu ray, and I liked the LFE better on TDK.

Better soundtrack if you ask me.

The LFE in Dark Knight is either sloppy, or just part of the ambience.

For some real bass, get Incredible Hulk.

:confused: Something has to be wrong in your setup(room issue/subplacement). The bass in the dark knight was not sloppy at all.

speaking of good LFE anyone seen the Hell Boy II blu ray yet? Pounds the whole movie. A perfect film for ruining a sub.

Looks like the LFE is hot. I don't see why I should be getting 109dB uncorrected with the hospital explosion scene while at -10dB reference level. It should be more like 105dB, unless I have somehow incorrectly set my settings.

DK was a Mess that the Joker saved, and made it great as a movie!
Count the B actors in it for fun. While waitting for the Batmobile and Hospital scene's

Hulk had Reference actions scenes, but not a lot of them.

If you watch Iron Man its great the first time, but does gets a little sleepy on multiple views.

Also, I would use a couple of scenes from DK as demos for sure!!! One would be the hospital explosion.

My left speaker was wired out of phase and cancelling alot of bass. I'm not going to remeasure, and mojomike, has already covered this.

The bass in DK Bluray was very good. As the rest of the soundtrack, in my opinion.

Bass in the Dark Knight was ANYTHING but sloppy. Some of the tightest I have heard from any movie yet.

Due to the end of the hospital explosion scene around 1:52, I lost a woofer on my right Paradigm Studio 100 v.4 (I have a 2.1 setup). I did not think that I was listening at equipment-endangering levels. The accompanying MFW-15 subwoofer was just fine. I called my Paradigm dealer and after some amateur testing, we determined that one of the leads may have been too long, causing vibration against the spider or even an internal short with the opposite lead. It was not 'blown' in the conventional sense. It's being replaced under warranty, but I'm out a system for a week. :(

I'm not sure what 'sloppy' would mean, but I would like to see a bass waterfall for the end of the hospital explosion scene, specifically during the aerial view of the explosion.

Just, curious, but were you running you speakers large or small?

Interesting. Then you must have been "large"...and overpowered your mains a little..Most avrs allow you to set the LFE crossover at a certain frequency (80 Hz for example) routing the powerful bass to the sub and away from the mains.. Does your sub get much action?

As a music enthusiast, I would not employ such a setting on a regular basis, only when pushing the limits, which I did not think I was doing. I was using my MFW-15 at a medium level at the time. I've only had it for four weeks or so, two of which was holiday.
