My mother recently purchased a condo that came "pre-wired" with in-wall speakers. Of course, in typical homebuilder fashion, this means that there are 3 pairs of speakers haphazardly strewn about the house each of which terminate in the garage (convenient, eh?). Each pair have their own local volume control knob. I think I've identified which wires feed which pair of speakers.
There are also, strangely, about 6 unidentified wires which also terminate in the garage. Each of these wires contain 4 separate wires (red, black, green, and white). Anybody have any idea what these might be?
There is also a 4-port wallplate in the living room which has two red and two black RCA connectors. Anybody have any idea what this might do?
Ideally, I'd like to avoid having the receiver in the garage. Rather, I'd prefer to have it in the living room where the aforementioned 4-port wallplate is.
That's all the info I have. All I'm really trying to do is exploit the current in-wall speaker setup in order to allow my mother to turn on a receiver in the living room and have it feed the in-wall speakers which she can control using the local volume controls.
I know that's not a lot of info to go on, but anybody have any suggestions?
