I posted this in the speaker forum but I might get more feedback here.

Alright guys, I have a LN52A650 with a PS3. I already have a blu-ray player so getting a HTIB I feel like I'm wasting part of my money for another blu-ray player I don't need. My budget is at a max of 600 dollars and I can't really find a Speaker/theater set-up thats worth it...I'm trying to find just basicly a speaker setup really just to connect to my tv and PS3. but it seems like in some cases Id be spending money where I didn't want to. I don't know much about audio or recievers and speakers, but I know what I want is basic speakers for television, movies and gaming...thats it nothing more!!! What can I start looking at or where should I start looking?

At $600 you're not going to hear the benefits of the latest audio codecs on BD, so if you need to save money a receiver with DD/DTS decoding would be sufficient.

Second hand should get you a great system, as for new products, i'm not up-to-date with items in your price range so won't recommend specifics.. but:

If you have the space and are willing to buy used opt for 4x matching floor standers (full range, for front and surround, run phantom center, and no sub), and a DD/DTS receiver. I'd spend no more than $100 on the receiver, and that leaves $250 for each pair of speakers, which should get you something surprisingly good.

Or if you're space limited look for a quality HTIB solution.
