I'm trying to determine which chips for scaling and de-interlacing the above units use.

Also if anyone can provide "user knowledge" as to how each unit does with playing SD dvds, that would be great also.

Hi pwall. I have the dps 6.7 and it is very good at up converting.As far as the chips go, I have no idea,sorry.Has very good audio also.
