Hey all finally started my new HT theater out and now need to pick a good sub to go with it. I don't have any experiance with name subs as i've only been using htib's for the last 3-4 years. My system will be used 60% HT/TV viewing, 20% gaming, and 20% music. I like a lot of low end especially in movies, and musical bass (listen to rap, dance, hard rock...). I live in a remote area of northwestern B.C. so I only have a couple options that i'm considering, but first i'll list what i've purchased so far then what my options are....

Energy CF 50 Towers
Energy CC 10 Center
Energy CR 10 Surrounds (buying next week)
Yamaha RX V863
Sony Playstation 3

Sub choices....

Energy ESW V10 - matches my new eqip perfectly, nice piano gloss finish
Paradigm DSP 3400 - don't know much about it but fits price range and is rated to go pretty low.
SVS PB12 NSD - Very highly reguarded on the forums and in my price range.

Sorry but i'm also looking at only spending $700-$1000 on this sub and thx in advance for your time.

for 700.00 - 1000.00 you should be considering something MUCH better. such as an Elemental Designs A7S 450, ********** MFW-15, HSU VTF3 MKIII w/ turbo, SVS PB12+

unless you WANT less bass for your money....if that's so, then go with one of those others

take it from a fellow Canadian. you will do MUCH better with one of those. Search my posts for my review of the MFW15 if you like...but you can't go wrong with HSU, SVS, eD, Epik, AV123 etc. shipping will hurt on them all, but...you will get so much more sub for the money compared to the ones you have listed above.

frustrating.......like I said in the OP I live in a remote area ie. small island near alaska where shipping something like this will add at least $200. For that kinda money I don't want 1/4-1/2 of it going to shipping and taxes/duties. I'm going to keep this within Canada.

oh and the pb12+ is $1500 before taxes and shipping way beyond my initial price parameters.

btw. i know exactly where Prince Rupert is..i was going to move there for work last year..but decided against it. i might still consider it one day...we'll see.

forgot to also add i'm renting a 1 floor small 3 bedroom house w/1 bedroom suite downstairs. the suite has been unoccupied for over a year but that can change at anytime. i'm trying to future proof myself here a little buy buying bigger then I need as I don't plan on living here forever. is the 12" NSD not a good sub? it will come in under 1000 with taxes and shipping to me, and from what i've read here it is tough to beat within this price range. only reason i'm considering the energy is because it'll match my system, and I can buy it locally with no tax. The paradigm I can buy it about 150km's away but they'd need to order it in.

i had mine shipped to the Detroit area, then paid my 6% duty and 13% taxes on the USD converted to CAD when i got to the border.
