I have a Sony KV-40XBR700. About a week ago, the TV would shut off. I turned it back on and no problems. A few hours later, the same problem. Thinking maybe it was the cable box/non-TV related issue, I again turned the TV back on. A few days later, the same problem occurred. This time when the TV was turned back on, the picture was very red (looks like 3-D image). I tried the DVD/other inputs to the TV and the image is the same. Also, when the TV shuts off, the light in front would blink five times, pause and repeat. The TV is about 6.5 years old. I have done some reading online and wonder if this may be the IC's on the D-Board? Thanks.........

Sounds like a bad video amplifier IC. It's usually located on the small PCB on the back of the tube.

Before you call a repairman, do a simple task of unplugging the TV from the wall or any electric for about an hour. Then plug-in again and push power-on button. This re-sets the TV to defaults. This worked for me when we had some power outs during a storm, and it cleared up my TV perfectly. If that doesn't work, then a call to the repair guy may be in order. Let us know the outcome.

For a temporary fix, you can adjust the hue to more green. Hope this helps.
