Getting ready to order some parts to terminate my wires and was curious what looks best in the theater. a Binding post where you screw the thing down on the wire, or banana plugs where all my exposed wire has on on the end and I use that to connect at the wall.

Just trying to get a feel for what people think. Does one look better than the other, functionality-wise I figure it is the same. Figure to order some up some time this week. thanks

Based on looks, banana plugs, secure termination binding posts. I plan on using a combination of both binding posts and banana plugs.

I had actually planned on ordering from this business here.

yeah those look nice. I like the black...I was looking at the ones at monoprice, but these look nicer I think because the black.

When you say you plan to do a combination, can you elaborate a bit for me. Do you plan to use binding posts at the wall and then banana plugs at the speaker? Banana plugs at the rack plugging into equipment. Just want to get a feel for what others may do. The link you gave when buying 20 gets me to the monoprice price so I would certsainly do that, but I want to get a feel for if 20 is enough. 7.1 = 7x2 = 14 plugs and then another 14 at the rack. that just sounds like over kill, so if I can get a feel for what a good combination would be. that would certainly be my best bet. thanks.

5way binding posts on the wall plate, banana plugs for all speaker cable termination.

I had planned on using banana plugs on the receiver due to space considerations and then using the binding posts on the speakers and wall plates for a secure connection.

If not for looks, because lets admit, binding posts would look cool, is there any benefit to using banana plugs? I mean at the receiver, sure, because you have 7 channels all right by one another, so the banana plugs make life easy, but then where there is a single speaker, does it really matter? Is audio quality better one way or another, as long as I make sure I have a nice clean twisted piece of speaker wire clamped down by the binding post?

It really doesn't matter audio performance wise. As long as you have a good secure connection the audio transmission should be the same. I think it boils down to personal preference on what type of connector you want to use.

In that case, I think I am going to end up going with binding posts at the wall and speakers. They should be moving around that much, and I think for the sake of looks at the back of the rack, even though nobody will ever be looking at the back of it, I think I will do banana plugs for the shear fact that there will be 7 speaker runs in such a small area.

Either way, i think the binding post allow for banana plugs, so if I dont like the way things look, I can order some extra banana plugs to clean things up...such a small detail causing such a raucous

Some of the speakers and receivers I have looked at will accept both bananas and binding post type connectors. I would not want to try to shoehorn 14 binding post on the back of some receivers considering how pack the back panel is. Good Luck.
