I kid you not. Supposedly Nabisco is giving away 1 HD DVD player a day during the Christmas Holiday season (nabiscocrackers.com). I played my access code hoping for a plasma. Nope! I got nada. The player looks like a Venturer at that.

When I initially saw the contest on the box, I thought I bought a year old plus box of Ritz! :o

I saw that a few weeks ago. I have one of those boxes, so I'll have to try my luck.

I guess the 2 or so releases I get each week from Blockbuster don't count as "readily available" ? Of course in around 5-6 years, I'll have seen all the HD-DVD movies out there (English language) then I'll just have a really good upscaler...

I didn't realize that Blockbuster was still renting them out actually. I was mostly referring to the fact that they're really only available to BUY on the used market these days.

Besides, even you have to admit it's strange to be giving out an HD DVD player as a prize at this stage in the game.

Well, I didn't win one, either. Oh well, I already have two!

The BD rollout has been a debacle @ best.

It's my understanding that if you call up and talk to customer service NABISCO will let you select as an alternative to the HD-DVD player a Betamax instead.

I am calling them on Monday. :) Maybe I can switch the HD DVD player for the TV. :D
