I currently have my Sony DVD player connected to my television set via S-video, and the quality is OK. But I also have the "Y Pb Pr" connection on the set as well (also know as component video) I looked in the manual online for my set and noticed that it can only do interlaced video. So I was just wondering if there is going to be a big difference between S-video and interlaced Component video, and if it's worth it to me to buy those cables? I know the differences between S-vid and Y Pb Pr, but I just want to know if there is any practical differences in picture quality.

In theory: yes. In practice: hard to say, it depends on your display and viewing habits.
When I had the choice of component over s-video I used it, just so I wouldn't worry about "what if?" It's worth an experiment; good cables are cheap from forum sponsors http://www.bluejeanscable.com/ and http://www.monoprice.com/.
I've also bought cables from cyberguys.com, which more oriented to computer bits and pieces.

On my Sony Tube TV with component input I got a brighter and better color picture using 480i component vs. S-video. I also had a Sony DVD player.
At the prices monoprice sells component cables it's a no brainer. To test component you could just use composite audio or video cables. I've used them in a pinch and truthfully with your TV you probably won't notice a big difference between better cables. It should still be better than S-video.
