I had some work on my home the last few days and I'm pretty certain the carpenter put one or two nails through some crown molding into my hidden speaker cables. I know this can not be good but does anyone know how or if this will affect the cable and or sound? I will not be able to hook everything back up until this weekend so I thought I'd check for answers here.

Thanks
Rich

If the nails are still there, the cables could be shorted... very dangerous to your amps.

Edit: Even if the nails were pulled out, if the speaker cable insulation was badly damaged, they could still be shorted. They could also be discontinuous and you would get no sound out of the speakers.

Pull the crown molding off slowly and look at the nail locations.
