OK, I just joined here, and I did search, and look in the FAQ, but if I missed the answer to this question, I'm sorry.
Here's my situation:
I have a standard Zenith 27" CRT that is pretty good for what it is. But, my old standard DVD player died, and I sure wasn't going to replace it with another DVD player.
So, I got a Samsung BD-P2500 Blu-Ray player. I figure I can get an HDTV at some point soon.
However, I don't have one now. So, I'm using a standard video connection from the Blu-Ray to the TV.
And everything I play that's Blu-Ray (so far, Lost S4, and Dark Knight) shows up as 4:3 and not widescreen.
Now (sheesh!) with that background, here's my question(s):
1) is there anyway to get the display at 16:9 on the CRT through a normal video connection?
2) if not, would it help if I ran the video from the Blu-Ray through the Amplifier, using component, and then connected to the TV using S-Video (because the TV doesn't have component)?
3) do I just need to wait to get a HDTV?
Seriously, any help would be appreciated. I honestly have NO idea what I'm doing (thanks, I know :) ). I could use any guidance offered.
