Anyone get on HGTV?
As I try to figure out my layout for a smaller basement, I was thinking it would be cool to get on HGTV and have them do it. Anyone here know what show I would even be able to get on?
Anyone ever been on HGTV?

Half the fun is doing it yourself and seeing it all come together not letting random people come renovate your house for a weekend.

One guy had a show which chronicled his build. He bankrolled it (a Doctor, I think) and they filmed it. Came out really nice, and I liked the show.

A couple others have had their completed builds profiled. Here is one thread:

I want to say the guy who made "the bridge" - a Star Trek theme room made another episode of that show, but don't see any threads.
Long story short - I don't think they will come in and re-do your space on their nickel, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

My concern would be with the room quality. I see a lot of nicely finished rooms on HGTV - On Camera anyways..... You can make anything look nice for one day - how does it perform though?
Seen a lot of crap jobs on that channel. The one i'd be most likely to go for is Holmes on Homes. That guy seems to do it right - plus he chronicles it all.

dc_pilgrim,
Yes, that was my theater, The Bridge (see link in sig line below).
JonyHouse,
They filmed my room for a show called "Look What I Did!". Unfortunately, they don't give you a penny for your troubles, not even a DVD of the episode!. You'd have to get on one of those other shows that actually give you some help or pay for some of the room if you expect to get anything from them.
Good luck.

Last year, a guy posted a thread about how Homes by Holmes was going to be rebuilding his media room. There was a lot of excitement in the thread then silence, we never figured out when the episode was going to air in the US.
He did come back for a brief postmortem and it appeared that most of the construction was devoted to stealing ceiling height to fix a botched HVAC install. From my research on the Canadian HoH web site, His media room was a plain drywalled TV room.

I thought so. Your room is such a classic. Too funny about the DVD - how disappointing.

Yeah....Except there is a couple of those "random" HGTV women that I'd surely invite over to help me out for a weekend!
