I just purchased a little Christmas gift for myself - the 50inch PZ700. It is an older model - was the price I paid ($1125 CAN) too much? As well, are there any suggestions as to the optimal setup?

See if you can get it calibrated. That would produce the best results.

Here are two threads dedicated to that TV, but just know that other people's settings usually won't usually look right due to so many variables such as environmnent, viewing content, personal preferences, individual eyesight, etc but they can give you a good starting point and you can fine-tune it from there.

I owned that set and I must say the colors and overal PQ were VERY accurate. Good blacks, but not great blacks. I would recommend getting a backlight from ideal lume, which will make the blacks appear as dark as a Pioneer.

Considering that was a near top of the line model in 07...the price is very good. Just because it's an 07 doesn't mean it won't look great in 08/09...or beyond.;)
