I realized that a sub/sat system just won't cut it for music and so I've decided to go with a bookshelf speaker. I just don't have the room for towers. My room size is 17 by 15, and these will be used as front mains for HT and for 2 channel music listening.

I'm leaning towards the Polk RTi4 or the Monitor 40's, both are on sale for under $200 for the pair. I've been trying to find them locally to demo but no luck. Can anyone shed some light on which of these is the better speaker? I enjoy my highs more than deep bass. I will be pairing them with a sub as well.
Music interests are jazz, easy listening and bands such as Chicago, Journey, REO and Styx style of music, so horn replication is a big plus.

Thanks much for any insight or help in deciding.

The RTi4s have very good detailing for highs. I started with 4 RTi4s for fronts and rears, then upgraded my fronts to RTiA3s, but still run the RTi4s for rears.

Great little bookshelf for the price!

Rti4 is the better speaker but getting pretty scarce.
