Kind Readers and Experts,
I'm a little confused about the remote in/out connectors on the back of my audio gear, LCD TV, DVD player, and Comcast set top box. I have a couple of basic questions.
1) It looks like these connectors are standard 1/8" mini connectors. Are they two conductor? Three conductor? Something else?
2) Is there some standard for these ports? Can I just interconnect a bunch of my devices together and expect them to work? The stereo and CD player are Yamaha, the TV is Samsung, the DVD player is Sony, the set top box is made by Motorola. You get the picture.
Here's the actual problem I'm trying to solve:
I have a new universal remote (a holiday present). The TV and set top box have decent line of sight for the remote, the other components (stereo, DVD player, CD player) don't have good line of sight. Can I use the remote in/out ports to cable the systems together and expect the IR codes to be transmitted through the wires to the other devices?
Thanks in advance,
David
