Hello,

I think I have what is a simple question for you guys. This stuff is just WAY to confusing for me. I believe it can be done but I'm not sure what product I need to purchase to accomplish it.

Scenario: I'm mounting a TV in my bedroom on the wall. Behind this wall is a closet. I want to put 2 components in this closet (Direct TV HD receiver and a Phillips DVD Player).

I want some device that will allow me to use the Direct TV remote (I believe it can be programmed to be either IR or RF, not positive about this though) AND the DVD players remote through one wall about 15' away.

We could even leave the closest door open if necessary, but the components will be tucked around the corner on a shelf.

I have no interest in a Universal Remote. I'll probably never use the TV remote but obviously, it doesn't have to work through the wall because the TV will be in the same room as the remote if I ever do use it.

Summary,

2 Remotes (cheap DVD remote, Direct TV HD Receiver Remote) through 1 wall approx. 15' away.

What is the best/cheapest solution? A link would be awesome! Is the Next Generation Remote Control Extender it? If yes, there are 2 different freq's. Which one?

Thanks a bunch

I think that is the cheapest option. You could then always get a universal remote later and continue to use it with the NG extender. The two choices are 418MHz and 433MHz -- The 433MHz works fine with all Harmony remotes whereas the 418MHz has some problems. Even though you don't use a Harmony yet, that is also a cheap universal remote -- I'd suggest the 433MHz. I can't quote the source b/c I cannot find it, but I believe one of the developers of the product said this.

If you search for "powermid remote extender" on ebay you'll find many devices that you can use to do this.
