All the new players (PCH, HDX1000, VuNow) seem to be 10/100. What's up with that?

The TViX 6500a has a gigabit port but I have never used more than 46Mbps over it

I don't put anything on my network that isn't gigabit. Otherwise I can expect to replace it within a year.

Unless the media player has local storage (internal hard drive...) that you want to transfer data to there is no reason to have gigabit.

Gigabit Ethernet is a waste on anything based on a Sigma Designs media processor and reference design, since they can't even saturate a 100 megabit connection. I've topped out at a sustained 400Mbits/sec transferring files from my PC to my Linux server. Same transfers to a PCH top out at about 1/10th that speed.

TVIX 6500A works better over a gigabit network on my system than with 100BaseT.

With the latest alpha, I can stream SIN CITY which reaches 60.9Mbps in some points on the movie. At 100M, it gags from this speed.

The Dune BD prime also has a gigabit port, I've never bothered trying the 10/100M option for it.
