My ps3 decided to power down on its own, and will not fully power back up. it will for 2 seconds then shuts itself back down. have tried the 5 second reset sequence, to no avail. Seems to me it might be a hardware not a sofware issue. could anyone offer any opinion?

but seriously, why wouldn't you just call sony?

there's other threads in here that have people talking about the same thing. I am sure if you do a search you can find some help.

ok thanks for the help, but for calling sony, that wouldnt work because the ps3 only has a 3 month warranty. and they would say "just buy a new one"

What do you mean it only has a 3 year warranty? Did you just buy it? If so, then it has the standard warranty like the rest of PS3's.

If not, call Sony and get it fixed, otherwise, you can search some of the endless threads to see if anything can help.
