Ok currently I have my ps3 hooked up to a logitech z5500 speaker system. Some times i'd prefer to use headphones and im looking to buy some high end stereo headphones. My z5500s have like a mini receiver that all the speakers plug into and theirs also a headphone jack on the side. Im wondering if I will get the fullest quality I can get through a pair of stereo headphones with this method. By the way I have my mini logitech receiver plugged into my ps3 via optical cable or toslink whatever it's called.

A bit tedious but you can turn off DD/DTS to get 2ch PCM.

Define "High end" :confused:To some that means 40-50 bucks. To others 300-500, and other 500 plus. But as for the fullest quality the z5500 will power all but the most power hungry headphones just fine. Again it depends on what you mean by "high end" Are you talking Denon AH-D 7000 high end?
http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/4635.asp (my dream set of cans)

or AKG K701's (I own a pair of these)

Or what I use for gaming when I dont want to upset the wife.
Ultrasone pro 750's

If you are REALLY serious about "high end" Can's pop on over to www.head-fi.org Do a search on gaming headphones. And you'll get plenty of info. BE WARNED the guys over there are deadly serious about their cans. And some have more money in headphone rigs than I do in my 5.1 Surround sound system:eek:

Thanks for the replies. After some searching I discovered that my source needs dolby headphone decoding. I went ahead and picked up the astro mixamp to solve this problem. But I still havent picked a set of cans yet. Im willing to send some cash on a set of cans but no more than 300.

Make sure you check out the huge Gaming Headphone thread here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=894251

It is in the 360 forum, but it has become a general gaming headphone guide at this point.

FYI, I've got the Astro Mixamp and Senn 595 headphones.

How do you like your senn 595s? Do you think they are better than the sen 555 and is the price difference justifiable?

I paid $165 for them about a year ago. Haven't tried the 555s.
