Just curious what my fellow AVS peeps are doing this new years. If you were gonna put down the controller and do something with the wife and kids? I have been playing alot of Resistance 2 so tonight i'm taking a break. We are getting rdy to go out for dinner, gotta get there before the 2 hr wait begins:rolleyes:.

Later tonight our neighbors are coming over for a few drinks and laughs hopefully....I have a bottle of 18 yr old Bourbon I've been saving for tonight, and the wife has her girlie drinks...hopefully she'll have alot them:D

Happy New Years.

Probably nothing. I was going to head out to a local establishment with some friends, but then half a foot of snow was/is falling right now and the roads are an absolute mess. (Seems like the town budget for winter weather this calendar year has already run out. We typically don't get the big snow storms until february and march, so this year has been an oddity).

With the combination of bad road conditions and drunk drivers on the road tonight, it's a deathwish to be outside.

Braving the Boston cold and snow and heading to a house party with friends.

[and hoping the ladies make it out, instead of staying it]

Going to watch Hancock and the new Batman on blu-ray on the PS3. Now that I'm married, what's the point in going out partying?

Heading down the street to celebrate with the neighbors. The parents get a stupid drunk on (at least the dad do :D) while the kids play ps3/wii/various games and watch the stupid drunk dads :D.

The year, my pre-new years resolution is going to be NOT to get stupid drunk tonight :) (I don't want to spend all day tomorrow recovering :o)

Going to play Oblivion's Shivering Isles expansion (and maybe log into Home) for a few hours before heading out to a friends for "mint night". Been threatening to do a mint only drink night for years and this New Year's is gonna be it.

Does it get any better than that? Just a suggestion: Drink some good bourbon at around 11:30, start getting it on at 11:55 so that you end 2008 getting laid, then make it last until after 12:00 so that you start 2009 getting laid. :p No better way to end one year and start another one. :D

Thats one way of looking at it:D. Coming up on 3hours since I first got the call. So if this keeps up we are gonna have MAJOR problems come midnight when everybody starts calling for cabs and sending text Messages ( i work in the switch for a wireless provider) New Years eve is always a crap shoot for us. Big network spike at midnight and doesnt level off until 1 Then get hit again at 2 when the bars close down. Might be long night for me.

Actually, we didn't even start the movies. I guest that's tomorrow instead of bowl games. Instead we're playing yahtzee. No, not on PS3, it's the board game. By playing that, she agreed to play LittleBigPlanet... coming up next!

Enjoyed some fine beverages with some friends and watched the last 15 minutes of "Beyond the Law" with Charlie Sheen. If you've never seen it before, I highly recommend the last 15 minutes. It's so bad that it's awesome.

Being almost 60, I'm not a gamer (my sons play when visiting) - but we got heavy use out of the PS3 for our New Year's Eve party with 5 neighborhood couples.

Started the evening out with a great movie with terrible reviews (Mama Mia) on Blue ray in the Theater room - then went on after the movie to getting my aging friends/neighbors into a "Battle" of men versus women playing SingStar ABBA. Good thing I didn't have a camera to record the antics; everyone had a blast singing - we were all terrible but there is some differentiation; just like in Mama Mia how much better Meryl Streep is when compared to James Bond). Finished with champaigne watching the ball fall and dancing in our new 4 season room.

That PS3 made this a very memorable new years - I heartily recommend the combination of chick flick Mama Mia followed by the ABBA Singstar (why didn't they include microphones BTW?) for a party - at least for my generation.

well it sounds like most everyone was gonna have some kind of fun, life's too short to not have fun every chance you get!

My evening went as planned, dinner at Red Lobster, yummy. Drinks with the neighbors until about 1 am...then bed with the drunk wifey:D

Happy New Year
