I've purchased a Sanyo PLV-Z60 and it should be delivered next week. I was wondering if anybody has ceiling mounted one and what sized screws I will need. I already have a DIY mount.

I do, they are 6mm.

FWIW, I'm VERY happy with this projector. Out of the box color/PQ is excellent.

I mounted it on the ceiling last night with their $90 universal mount. (Don't get the white mount since the paint clogs up the threads on the screw holes)

Anyway, I measured out the distance from my 92" painted on wall screen to 12' 3" based on Projector Central's distance calculator. I had to shift my mount over from center about 6" to grab on to a joist (put three 3" lag screws in one side of the mount).

My question is, will the 6" shifted off center be an issue? Will I need to utilize any keystone correction? My HDMI cable comes tomorrow so I haven't fired it up yet while mounted on the ceiling.

Also, is there an "Official" Sanyo Z60 thread anywhere? I'd like to know what others are using for settings, etc.

I doubt that 6" will make much difference (insert tasteless joke here). Maybe others can chime in. The shifting capabilities on this projector are pretty good. I use mostly the vertical but let us know what you see. I haven't seen an Official Z60 thread yet but I've considered starting one.

This projector is very flexible, so if you are just 6" off of center you should be fine. You'll just have to use some horizontal shift. I don't think you should have to use any keystone adjustment (I would do everything I could to avoid using keystone too).

When I mounted mine I didn't take in to consideration the fact that the lense is off center and installed my mount center to the screen. This puts the lense about 3 inches off center. As a result, I use about an 1/8 of a turn of lense shift, I see no issues because of this. Just make sure your projector is square to the screen vertically and horizontally, this will eliminate the need for keystone.

The Z5 Tweak thread has a lot of useful info. I tried a couple of their suggestions and they made a world of difference in the picture quality of my setup. The 2 major changes that really made a difference were to set the overscan to 0 (it defaults to +10) and used sjschaff's settings on page 8:

Brightness - 0
Contrast - 0
Color - +3
Tint - +1
Temp - Low 2
Red - +12
Green - 0
Blue - -5
Sharpness - 0
Lamp - lowest setting
Gamma - 0
Iris - -30
Lamp Iris - auto1
AutoBlackStretch, Contrast Enhance, and Transient - all off
ColorList - 0
Dynamic Gamma - Auto1
Gain: R +1 G 0 B -2
Offset R -2 G 0 B +5
Gamma R 0 G 0 B 0

Now I have quit tinkering and am just enjoying movies.

I would agree that the z5 thread was very helpfull in setting mine up. Definatly made huge improvemetns over factory settings.

Thanks all. I agree (now that I think more about it) that a horizontal shift should be all that's needed, no keystone. As for settings, I read a great detailed write-up on www.projectorreviews.com for the Z60. They basically state that the Pure Cinema setting is best and to tweek it from there.
