Which one will have a better picture Thanks ridecolby 01-02-09, 09:45 AM I am curious about this. On the Optoma website it says that the HD65 will do 1080p but it's native resolution is 720p. What does this mean? Is it one or the other or both. At this price point if it does 1080p I may be forced to rethink a plasma purchase. markc 01-02-09, 11:13 AM I have a HD73 and I did an experiment with Blu-ray. I did output from the Blu-ray 720 and 1080p. The picture was much better with the projector doing the downconverting then the player Luis Gabriel Gerena 01-02-09, 11:40 AM You got to try yourself I suppose. No matter what you choose there is going to be downconversion...either the Projector does it or the player so its a matter of who does it better. In my personal case, I was surprised (as I have been a fan of 1:1 mapping) to see that sending my projector a 1080p signal gave me better detail even though its a 720p. Is it one or the other or both. At this price point if it does 1080p I may be forced to rethink a plasma purchase. It is compatible with the 1080p signal and will rescale it to its native resolution which is 720p. As for rethinking the plasma, what do you want? A tv or a home cinema? Even a 720p projector will outperform a plasma tv in terms of overall effect. My 92" screen is 4 TIMES the screen provided by a 42" plasma tv. Tape a rectangle on your wall 45" tall and 80" wide and you will see what I'm looking at and my screen is on the low end of what most PJ owners watch. 100" to 120" is the typical range and will never be matched by a 42", 50", or even 60" plasma. reconlabtech 01-02-09, 12:23 PM Try both resolutions and see which device does the better rescaling job. |
