View Full Version : Subtitles and Image Retention?

I recently bought a 42PZ85, and I plan to watch a lot of films on the TV. I have followed some of the breakin advice on the topics here, and ran the DVD. I was just curious if a lot of longterm watching of films with subtitles, which are mostly white/yellow would result in image retention or burn-in around the portion of the screen that the subs are displayed (almost the same for most films)? Obviously the text is only there for a few seconds, and changing every second or so, but I was curious if bright text in the same region would cause an issue. Or am I safe to watch as many as I like ?

Thanks

You are safe. The text changes so much it would be impossible to get burn in unless you pause the DVD.

On your Panasonic I wouldn't worry about it!!!

Don't go overboard with paranoia. In the end just remember that IR goes away. Burn-in isn't worth worrying about in order to get burn-in you would have to do something stupid like leave a static image on your tv for a few days.

sbutitles shouldn't be a probem. closed captioning on the other hand may be due to the black boxes, but still not really an issue
