Good day all,

I just recieved a ps3 for my month old Samsung 40" 1080p LCD tv.
I've connected the PS3 via HDMI straight through to the tv. (1.8m HDMI1.3 gold plated)

the PS3 shows 4 available resolutions, 576p which is greyd out and ticked.
720p, 1080i and 1080p.

The problem is, TV handle's all signals perfectly fine but as soon as I select 1080p, the tv goes black, says no signal detected and revert back to 1080i.

Is my TV's HDMI limitied to 1080i? (coz then I'll take it back) Or is the TV faulty?

Is the PS3 faulty?

I don't know anyone else with a 1080p TV.
Thats why I'm asking u guys - the pro's...
Any help is needed thanks.

What model Samsung? You may have luck checking the specs in the manual or LCD Flat Panel section to determine if it's capable of 1080p over HDMI also.

I suspect that the TV will accept ATSC 1080p/24 in order to play BR DVDs and not 1080p/60 which is not an ATSC resollution.

Oh, its a series 5 samsung.

Thanks 4 the response guys - the guy at the shop insisted I take a 24bit HDMI cable instead of the 12bit HDMI cable that I had. Everything is perfect now thanks.
