View Full Version : 2009 BCS National Championship Game on FOX HD - Gators vs. Sooners!
The 2009 Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game on FOX HD
#1 Oklahoma Sooners (12-1) vs. #2 Florida Gators (12-1)
Live from Dolphin Stadium, Miami, FL
January 8, 2009
8pm ET
720p & DD5.1
Excerpted from FOX Sports
It's the game that will determine the national championship, with an anticipated matchup of two of the nation's top offenses; Oklahoma leading the nation in scoring offense, and Florida third.
The game features the battle of the 2008 Heisman winning quarterback Sam Bradford against the 2007 Heisman winner Tim Tebow. Much has been made about whether the Big 12 was better than the Southeastern Conference this season, so the game between conference champions will also account for conference bragging rights.
Please post all related comments here, include provider (OTA, Cable, DBS, FiOS, IPTV), and source (station call letters & city), thanks.

Gaters?
Here's hoping Fox steps up the PQ to match their best games, and puts a crew out there that's actually glad to be putting the game on. Fox's coverage as a whole has been very lackluster this year after a full season of great work by their competition.
Looking forward to some great play by the teams involved at the very least. Go Sooners, since a win by them means Texas still has a shot at the championship :).
dcowboy7 01-08-09, 07:07 PM i luv when the bands play "hang on sloopy, sloopy hang on".
URFloorMatt 01-08-09, 07:38 PM Pregame from the LA studio and not on-site? I think we're officially in a depression now.

Gaters?
Hahaha! Yeah, a reeeeeal fan!
icemannyr 01-08-09, 07:53 PM Both Bands were on for no more then 1min.
It would be nice if they gave the bands just a little more air time, can't they get someone to sponsor the air time?
Go Sooners! Beat the "Gaters"!
BTW, I watch OTA, and I hit info. It says STEREO for the audio. Is this because I watch my OTA through my Dish receiver? My receiver says DD

ABCTV99 01-08-09, 08:08 PM Fox Sports Stays Focused on 2D for BCS

Thursday night’s BCS Championship Game in Miami will make headlines as the first college championship to be delivered in 3D across the nation. For the team at Fox Sports, though, the focus will still be on the 2D side of things as it ensures that traditional TV viewers have a top-notch viewing experience.
“We’ll be consulting and providing content for the 3D production,” says Jerry Steinberg, Fox Sports SVP, field operations, “but our resources will be dedicated to the 2D production.”
Fourteen Sony cameras will be used for the 2D broadcast, including a Cablecam and robocam in the tunnel to show the teams leaving and entering the locker-room areas.
BCS week is typically a fairly relaxed affair for Fox Sports, with two games broadcast from the same venue a week apart. That means the production team typically sets up and shoots for one game and then leaves it in place for the next game.
But this year, there was a wrinkle when the Miami Dolphins hosted a playoff game last Saturday. As a result, Fox Sports and Game Creek Video, provider of the production units, had to tear down following the Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day so that CBS Sports could roll in and produce the playoff game two days later. Different facility needs for the NFL game versus a college game made it impossible for Fox to remain set up; for example, the Fox Sports compound is located on NFL player parking. As a result, Fox Sports had to rip everything out and then re-park and power up earlier this week.
“It wasn’t that big of a deal because, usually, everyone would just go home, sit, and wait for the next game,” says Steinberg.
Game Creek Video’s Yankee Clipper production unit is handling the 2D coverage. The unit features a Grass Valley Group HD Kalypso Video Production Center with 90 inputs and 48 outputs (and 3 M/E), a 128x128 Pesa HD Video with 64 downconverting outputs, 12 Sony HDC 1500 multiformat cameras, six EVS units, and a Calrec Alpha audio board.
BCS coverage has been feeling the current global financial pinch. Instead of moving to the stadium to be set up in a corner of the stadium, for instance, the Fox BCS studio show will remain in Los Angeles.
“That allows us to focus on the game, and it makes setup a lot less complicated,” says Steinberg. “During rough financial times, we cut the fat but don’t affect the on-air product of the games.”
The cutbacks, he says, may leave the production crew “without a net,” such as extra cameras to get the right shot, but the production team is up for the challenge: “The director and producer will need to work a little harder in terms of iso shots.”
Odd to watch from a sofa. But I like it.
Years ago I ran the timeclock for a college team and it took me forever afterward to watch anything but the zebra's during a game... be brave W
ABCTV99 01-08-09, 08:17 PM Ron Cherry is officiating this game? Ugh anyone who knows anything about the ACC knows this might be the worst crew in the country. They held up a Wake Forest game for nearly a half hour trying to figure out how much time was on the clock (the game had just started).
SNF Mixer 01-08-09, 08:23 PM Reviewing the third play? Ugh, is right.
kevinivey 01-08-09, 08:32 PM wow, I am glad Fox is over with the BCS after this game. Talk about marginal HD. Not impressed with anything so far.
Brad Smith 01-08-09, 08:34 PM Another review!
Another review!
WHAT are they reviewing????
SNF Mixer 01-08-09, 08:35 PM I didn't realize you could review an incomplete pass. I don't know how long I can watch this stuff.
ABCTV99 01-08-09, 08:35 PM wow, I am glad Fox is over with the BCS after this game. Talk about marginal HD. Not impressed with anything so far.
I told you this officiating crew was terrible!
Fox still has the BCS for another year. Next years National Championship will be at the Rose Bowl. This game actually looks decent to me PQ wise but its that same oversaturated look they had for the Orange Bowl the colors are bleeding a bit.
Also SNF Mixer is this not a crappy music package or what?
Brad Smith 01-08-09, 08:36 PM Hahaha. THE GAME CLOCK.
skeelo58 01-08-09, 08:38 PM Ummm, what the hell? Fox in Fargo, ND is showing the game in 4:3!!!! Not even in HD! Seriously, what the hell. This is ridiculous.
SNF Mixer 01-08-09, 08:38 PM Crappy music package, but you play what you get. :)
wonderbread57 01-08-09, 08:40 PM The HD broadcast looked to be beautiful at the start of the game but when the game it self started FOX dropped this HUGE frekaing black bar right above the score bar. What the HELL is this? It's like pulling down the drapes on my HD tv. If FOX is doing this so that the bar looks good on TVs that don't do proper "Just scan" then they clearly are out of their mind sacrificing PQ so that their dumb score bar can be seen in it's entirety by a minority of viewers. And this is me giving them the benefit of the doubt. How stupid of a solution is this to addressing that problem? No other network drops the top of the picture I mean really this is so aggravating. What a beautiful picture it is when they go to an instant replay with the bar.
coyoteaz 01-08-09, 08:40 PM American Idol snipes during live game play? Big f*** you to Fox for that one. I've always tried to not get too negative in these threads, but to any of you from Fox reading this, you've crossed a line and it is inexcusable. 2011 can't come soon enough.

Sure its not your affiliate. Watching in Los Angeles on Comcast and looks better than most of what I see from FOX.

Well, since next year the championship game is at the Rose Bowl, technically this is the last time you'll have to suffer through a Fox broadcast for the national title game.
skeelo58 01-08-09, 08:49 PM Alright, back in business. Game is being shown in HD in Fargo now! PQ looks pretty damn good. I'm happy :)
The refs keep stopping the play for no reason. We should get a better crew for this game
Same thing with E* in Central Florida, FOX 35. Soft pic just like the other bowl games...
OTA WOFL-DT 35.1 looks soft as well :\
rustycruiser 01-08-09, 08:52 PM Well, since next year the championship game is at the Rose Bowl, technically this is the last time you'll have to suffer through a Fox broadcast for the national title game.
Would not the Rose Bowl be on ABC, and the National Championship game (played at the Rose Bowl) be on Fox? Thats what I think.

No, the Rose Bowl is the N.C.Game next year. Only one game there, Rose Bowl and N.C.(one in the same)
More clock issues. Lovely officiating so far.
As mentioned upthread, been there... no fun.
(usually boils down to equipment trouble or bad zebra's... tonight it looks like bad zebra's)
Would not the Rose Bowl be on ABC, and the National Championship game (played at the Rose Bowl) be on Fox? Thats what I think.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure about that as well
Rose Bowl Game Presented by Citi = ABC
National Championship Game at the Rose Bowl Presented by Citi = Fox
Thats one long ass name for a football game
SNF Mixer 01-08-09, 08:57 PM I can't watch much more. Have stuff to do. Here's my 30-minutes (2 cents) worth:
Great video here in Wilmington, NC on WSFX via Time Warner Cable. Crisps blacks, perfect color saturation.
The announcers are very present in the 5.1 surround mix, almost too much so. I can hear things getting dialed in. The surrounds are starting to get some life in them. The miking of the bands is great. They've spent some time getting mics in the right place. Now they must crank them. Work the band of the team that is doing the best at the moment. I miss my ABC college football days so much because I loved mixing in bands. (Think I am hung up on bands?) Go to break with band music if you can instead of using production music.
The crowd is obviously pro-Gator, making it hard to hear anything on the field when it's Sooner ball. Parabs are getting dialed in. I used to tell the guys when it was crazy loud that at the very least I had to hear whistles. America needed to know when a play started and stopped (or was about to be reviewed).
And unfortunately the audio crew was handicapped by the ACC officials. The ACC is one of the only leagues left that won't let you put a mic on the umpire for line of scrimmage sounds. And that comes from an ACC guy. Go Heels. But they won't help TV out with an umpire mic.
As I finish my rant, surrounds have eased up more, as the presence of the announcers is meshing better with the nat sounds. It'll be there by halftime.

URFloorMatt 01-08-09, 08:57 PM No, the Rose Bowl is the N.C.Game next year. Only one game there, Rose Bowl and N.C.(one in the same)
No, there will be two games next year. The Rose Bowl will be held on January 1 as usual. The BCS Championship game will be held on January 7.
Both will be televised by ESPN on ABC.
jrcorwin 01-08-09, 08:57 PM Soft in Indianapolis via Comcast and OTA.

Ahh, so sports talk guys on the radio and some tv sportscasters have mispoke when they said on tv and the radio that the Rose Bowl will be the N.C. Game......they should have said the NC Game will be held at the Rose Bowl.
No wonder I was wrong, as that's what I heard, and quite a few times from different media sources.
Thanks.
This will be the first of five consecutive BCS Championship Games to be telecast on either ABC or ESPN as the networks will take over from Fox Sports, who telecast the first three games which began in 2006. Because the Pasadena Tournament of Roses has a separate contract with ABC/ESPN, this was originally a separate game with FOX handling the others in a rotation. Since 2010 is the final year of the contract with FOX and ABC, ESPN will take over the BCS starting in 2011 excluding the Rose Bowl and the 2014 National Championship Game, which will remain on ABC.
Hmm, I guess it makes a little sense
I've checked various sources, and ABC has the rights to all Rose Bowl Games and National Championship Games AT The Rose Bowl until 2014

Ok I don't know which is worse, FOX's presentation or the refs so far. These 2 posts, and trying to cut to to a windowbox shot with the main camera and then another one on a wide receiver that pops up and goes away, man this is depressing. FOX might as well have a Mickey Mouse head somewhere on the screen because that is how it looks. Can we get these people on Who's Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
What purpose does Next Snap have?

Funny.
URFloorMatt 01-08-09, 09:15 PM I've checked various sources, and ABC has the rights to all Rose Bowl Games and National Championship Games AT The Rose Bowl until 2014
Correct. Fox made a four-year deal with the Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta Bowls for 2007 through 2010. That agreement included the BCS National Championship when those three bowls hosted the BCS Championship.
ABC has it's own agreement with the Rose Bowl. Like Fox's agreement, when the Rose Bowl hosts the national championship game, ABC has the broadcast rights for that game.
ESPN outbid Fox for the four year contract beginning in 2011 for the Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange Bowl. As per that contract, ESPN will also broadcast the national championship game when it is held by one of those bowls.
So, ABC will broadcast the 2010 championship, ESPN will broadcast the 2011-2013 championship games, and ABC will again broadcast the championship game in 2014 (as per its Rose Bowl contract).
Fox has a separate agreement with the Cotton Bowl, since it's not a member of the BCS. Since the Cotton Bowl is moving to New Cowboys Stadium starting next year, it's likely that the Cotton Bowl will attempt to become a member of the BCS and enter the national title rotation. Which means Fox could be back in the rotation for the 2015 game.
Just a question: By ESPN, will it be the standard ESPN on ABC presentation on a local ABC affiliate station, or will the game be on the actual ESPN cable channel?
Man, I looked up at the TV from typing on this laptop, realized I had my reading glasses (cheaters) on and took just them off to look at the game --- PQ is even less stellar!!
ABCTV99 01-08-09, 09:24 PM Which means Fox could be back in the rotation for the 2015 game.
They've actually toned this game down a bit production wise and although it certainly doesnt have the pomp of this year's Rose Bowl, the production is reasonably solid for FOX. Not too many fat finger punches and they've toned down the number of drumline shots. Seems like they're just trying to cover the game rather than overly force 'college' into it like.
Most of this footage will disappear after a few days though as FOX embargoes it after (i believe) a week.
The Rose Bowl (someone asked) will continue to be a ESPN on ABC presentation for now. The Pasadena Tournament Association has very strong feelings about keeping the game on OTA television. The other games will be broadcast on ESPN.
These announcers are pretty damn stupid
SNF Mixer 01-08-09, 09:28 PM I'd go for it on 3rd and goal every single time.
Brad Smith 01-08-09, 09:28 PM They (announcers) appear to have no idea what down it is. Nice.
My sound keeps cutting in and out, in and out. This is in Erie, PA
Anyone else having issues with DishNetwork?

Yes, I knew the Rose Bowl was staying on ABC, but I wasn't sure about the others. That is a disappointment, especially since OTA has much higher PQ

I hear the announcers hitting talkback. The guys can take themselves off the air and speak to the truck off the air. If you have lots of crowd noise pouring into the announce mics, you hear it cut on and off in the center channel. It's a terrible feeling when it happens.

That is exactly what is happening. It's happened on all the bowl games so far, and I'm starting to notice it on NFL Playoff games.
It only happens when the camera pans to the audience and it's really loud. During game play footage, It does not occur. Weird
Pregame from the LA studio and not on-site? I think we're officially in a depression now.
Got used to seeing the LA Studio, I have a strong feeling we will be seeing it for a few more weeks during January.

Brennamen just said something to the effect of "for those of you watching there's no two minute warning in college like the NFL"

..and I doubt FOX will lose any contracts because of their studio show. Usually that's considered 'shoulder' programming. You negotiate for the games.

Fox only does an on-site pre-game show for the NFC Championship game. They have every year since Fox picked up the rights.
CBS hasn't done the NFL Today on site since they finished their new HD studio. They just send Nantz down from the booth to do the trophy presentation.

If you read the first post I made about tonight's game, FOX has said that as part of cost cutting measures pregame shows will originate from Los Angeles.
And both studios are On-Site for the Super Bowl if I am not mistaken. Also, ESPN was on-site with Sportscenter and College Gameday. They don't even televise the event, but they will broadcast on site in HD. That is when you know Fox is sad.
jrcorwin 01-08-09, 10:00 PM FOX should tap a new source for funds and get rid of the damn 16X9 SD studio shots.

Yeah, we're just speculating about whether that will extend to NFL coverage. Since Fox lost the rights to the BCS, there's really no incentive for them to invest in a good product. Not true for the NFL. After all, "No. 1 rated pregame show, No. 1 rated NFL network" and all that crap.
And besides, the BCS isn't even that much of a ratings draw collectively, sad considering that there is almost no original programming on the other networks during this time frame.
Brad Smith 01-08-09, 10:10 PM What is up with all the flashes and swooshes and flares overtop the highlight videos for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance? Way excessive.

I just realized that I hadn't seen a football game on FOX in a while. Had seen most games recently on ABC or ESPN. What a terrible soft picture - very disappointing. Also, like every one else has said, very poor ref crew and mediocre at best announcers. I am trying to think what is going well tonight for FOX.
I am watching in Sacramento on Comcast.
I find it funny that the teams are scared to take command :P
ABCTV99 01-08-09, 11:11 PM Looks like Harvin is taking command.
I cannot believe they just had a conversation referring to momentum as "Old Moe"
Interception Florida...looks like Florida has this game, OU's defense won't be able to stop them.
Woodrow 01-08-09, 11:24 PM Man if OU goes on to lose their fans will be seeing that interception in their head for the rest of their life! :D SO close to a reception.
Haven't had time to read too many comments....what a lousy job by Fox on a great game. Announcers are horrible. They thought one of the critical goal line plays for OK was 4th down..it was only 3rd down. Almost comical. Fox jumps to commercials before the plays have concluded. No time for replays trying to get all the commercials in. We now know where all the auto bailout $$$'s have gone...for BCS ads. I do enjoy the band shots with the 5.1...sounds great.
coyoteaz 01-09-09, 12:40 AM All in all, a last-place performance from Fox for their bowl games in every category except for audio (their DD5.1 is still better than ESPN's Circle Surround or the stereo mixes on FSN, NFL Net, and Versus). The audio mix was dialed in pretty well by the second half as mentioned by SNF Mixer, but the picture suffered from noticeable dancing grass on every camera angle and severe loss of detail when faced with complex scenes (e.g. crowd shots). The fairly transparent bar above the scorebox on the Fiesta Bowl was replaced with a 95%+ opaque bar, and the snipes for American Idol during live plays set a new low. At least ABC has the decency to only promote their shows in between plays. On top of the technical imperfections, the announcing crews frequently gave me the impression that they didn't much care for the game, the confusion of 3rd/4th down being the most egregious example.

Gaters?
My sincere apologies to all Gator fans, everywhere.

I was happy about the result, but the journey was awful. I'm blown away by FOX's choice of commentators for this game. This is the biggest college game of the year and that's your A team? I came back from getting a drink to hear the announcer state they had to go for it on 4th and short and they missed and I was extremely happy because the Gators stopped them...then they went for it again on 5th and short apparently. DUHHH. Wow. Leaving the game for commercials early is a sin as well.
OK, now let's decide the real national champion. Play a DH on Saturday 1/17; UTAH vs USC in AZ, FL vs TX in New Orleans. The two winners show up in Miami on the weekend before the Super Bowl to find out who the best team really is.
Dream on, RemyM. As it is, Utah and USC and Texas get to pound sand. The winner of the "National Championship Game" is the National Champion. The BCS may be stupid and evil, but those are the current rules for NCAA Div I football.
AP did not vote Utah #1, so that won't be a contention: "Shared National Championship" or other such nonsense. When it comes to NCs, it's like they said in Highlander: "There can be only one."
Once again, the SEC rules. Five BCS championships for the SEC, two for Big 12, and no other conference has more than one.
n o o d l z 01-09-09, 10:29 AM Really lousy BCS coverage by FOX. You can really tell their lack of experience covering college football games. So many errors by the commentators, poor production.
- First Florida touchdown, Murphy falls backwards with his hand outstretched into the endzone, and the ball pops out after his hand hits the ground. Instead of showing a goalline view to determine whether he was down or not before crossing the plane, they were debating whether it was a fumble or not  They never did show a goalline view of that, but judging by the fact that there was no challenge, one had to assume that he was in.
- The aforementioned dual-4th downs. They actually started at 2nd down. Commentators were saying it was 3rd down even though the graphics on screen were correct. OU ran a play, and they're acting like its 4th down, and that they absolutely had to go for it. I have to wonder what went through their head after that play got denied and they got another chance. Why didn't someone get up in their ear and correct them?
- I believe it was at the end of the first quarter, UF's Trautwein got two false starts in a row, but when they came back from break, it was 1st and 15. FOX never noticed, but I just assumed that the clock ran down before the 2nd penalty.
- Terribly timed commercials, which typically pushed their replays back a few plays
- Terrible commercials, I hate the 370Z and no amount of seeing that in a commercial is going to change my mind
But with all that said, it's great...to be...a Florida Gator!
- Florida Gator Alumni living in Utah!

Make way to much sense so it will never happen.
E-A-G-L-E-S 01-09-09, 10:55 AM Yup, I'm convinced SC would beat anyone right now, we need a playoff.
Go PSU next year!
Now we can move on to a competition where the winner is decided on the field. :)
Go Birds!
mx6bfast 01-09-09, 10:57 AM Snipes for 24 and American Idol, totally ruining FOX's credibility to put on a quality product. Like I said earlier, a mickey mouse production.
They don't have the SB do they?

Your assumption is correct; the admittedly lame commentators did mention it later.
Really lousy BCS coverage by FOX. So many errors by the commentators.
Agreed. Hopefully, we won't have to suffer through this team again after next year. This is the third year in a row that the BCS championship game has been amateur night in the booth. Why fox, why?

I'm with you. USC over Utah in a close one, Florida over Texas in a blowout (beating Ohio State is no big deal), and USC & Florida is an OT pick'em.
Obama Again Calls For College Football Playoff
Posted by Kevin Hechtkopf, CBS
President-elect Barack Obama held a news conference today to announce his picks to lead the CIA (Leon Panetta) and to be Director of National Intelligence (Dennis Blair). He also talked about the latest unemployment report and called for urgent action on the stimulus plan he talked about yesterday.
But he might receive the most attention for what he said about the Bowl Championship Series when asked about Florida's win over Oklahoma last night. As he has done before on ESPN and on 60 Minutes, the president-elect reiterated his call for a playoff to decide the national college football champion.
"If I'm Utah, or if I'm USC or if I'm Texas, I may still have some quibbles," he said. "That's why we need a playoff."
Mr. Obama, however, said he did say a congratulatory message to a former detail leader on his secret service team whose son plays left tackle for the Gators.
Timpanogos 01-09-09, 04:56 PM Sorry KenH: Mountain West Conference teams were 6 wins to 1 loss against Pac10 teams this year. 13-0 Utah would kick USC's ass.
Congrats to USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, and of course my Gators. Great season, great football ---- I am very sad that it is over. Gotta get home and fire up the DVR to watch it again.

USC over Utah in a close one, Florida over Texas in a blowout (beating Ohio State is no big deal), and USC & Florida is an OT pick'em.I don't see how you can come to that conclusion. Texas beat OU and OU certainly was not blown out last night. I agree that Ohio State was no big deal but Florida wouldn't have been either, for Texas.
This is the same kinda thing we heard before Texas beat USC for the national championship a couple years ago.
mr. wally 01-09-09, 07:25 PM boy did those announcers suck.
i was especially getting real tired of them drooling over tim tebow.
that lead announcer just couldn't stop talking about how wonderful
he is, like he can walk on water. it was almost like he lusts tebow
the way he kept fawning over him.
i say utah is #1. the're the only undefeated team in the bcs
and convincigly beat #4 alabama in their bcs game
utah for national champs. hope the ap poll gives it to them
I don't see how you can come to that conclusion.I had a vision....
....seriously, it's nothing more than my pick.

:)
Woodrow 01-09-09, 07:54 PM Like I can talk ...I can't predict my way out of a paper bag. :)
Here's my final poll:
Florida
Utah
Texas
Oklahoma
USC
I'm willing to give Utah #2 based on their undefeated record but the strength of schedule precludes anything higher of course.
Texas is imo, obviously third based on beating the team they were matched with in the Fiesta and the fact that they should have been playing in the national championship.
I think OU by keeping it close and playing with Florida deserves #4
and USC is just the media's little darling and should be no higher than #5, imo.
If it were a playoff, it should have been Texas/Oklahoma playing again, with Texas winning. Then the winner of Utah/Florida(I predict Florida) would play Texas with Texas winning.
Again, no USC involved.
I hope you're not a gambler...
:)
Only when I know what the outcome is going to be. But I guess that's not gambling, is it?
Congrats to USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Utah, and of course my Gators. Great season, great football ---- I am very sad that it is over. Gotta get home and fire up the DVR to watch it again.

What was that time to snap graphic when Oklahoma was on offense? I watched a whole lot of college football this year, and I'm still not sure what exactly you were going for, and the commentators didn't do much to explain what its significance was. I assume it had something to do with Oklahoma running a hurry up offense, but with no context it wasn't particularly useful. Also, I wasn't watching that closely the first time it was up, but it seemed to be counting both up and down.

And to answer the question about the count-up clock, it was meant to show time in-between plays for Oklahoma for the simple fact that they move quick...they averaged 80 offensive plays this year as opposed to the typical 55 a Division I team averaged.
To me, and I saw the logic, to just use the play clock means you have to do the math backwards. Also, the point was to do it from whistle of the previous play to snap of next play. Play clock doesn't start until ball is set, so using the play clock wouldn't have been a true indicator anyway.
That was a second machine, I didn't run it. I did all the other lower-thirds. Also, coyoteaz, I can guarantee it was only up, never down.

Cablevision of NJ - game looked very good with the JVC RS-1 on 106" Dalite HP. Best 720p picture I can recall.
The JVC may be partially responsible. Seems to do great with 720p overall. (Better than my previous Sony Pearl.)

Good stuff...I didn't have a problem with the count-up clock, but I think it would've made more sense to show Florida's as well just to compare. I don't recall any issues with the graphics, so good work!

Since you are here I want to provide you with my pov of the broadcast. I'm directing this at you, but providing some simple viewer response.
1) Snap count up clock. I don't know why it was there. I think most viewers of football games can tell when a team has snapped the ball after 10 seconds or 30 seconds. It's kinda a waste of time.
2) Multiple screens before snap. There were a couple of times when this view would come up for a second or 2 and then go away nearly missing the snap of the ball. Of the nearly 10 or so times I saw this the shots in the other screens were of nothing happening. Shots of the coaches standing there with their hands on their hips, WR's standing at the LOS, absolutely no action at all. It was screen clutter.
3) Speaking of screen clutter, the snipes for AI and 24. Can Fox not stop doing that crap for a few hours?
4) Black bar above the scoreboard. Why cut off the screen up there? Is there some confidential info up there? Fox is cutting it down to 14x9.
