Hi, I wanted to start a thread on peoples attempts to acheive the "Film Look" with their consumer HD Cams..

Canon has their 24p mode and Cinemode options....

But I found a inexpensive way to GREATLY improve tghe film look while usig 24p and Cinemode..

Tiffen makes a diffusion filter called Soft FX, it comes in different densities (1-5) I slapped on on my canon and the thing looks AMAZING

check this link out it explains it in much more detail....

good luck and if you find any other secrets let us know!!

Another way is 35mm adapter.

yes i should of added that in my OP....there are countless threads on this I just wanted to make this thread something people can go out and do today rather than invest in a DOF adapter which have many many faults and with the inception of DSLRs I think DOF adapters are on their way out....

Vignetting, Light Loss, Heavy, EXPENSIVE to name just a few of the faults

It would be nice to have a prosumer video camera with a 35mm sensor and fast lens. I have tried the DSLR video thing, and find it annoying to use as a video/movie camera.

There's also post-production software plug-ins...

Magic Bullet, which is on the expensive side...

AND

Celluloid Film Looks, which is much cheaper...

I should mention this second one states it is for "Sony Vegas 5 and above", but "Does not support Vegas Movie Studio".

If anyone knows others, please post.
