Gents,

I'm the CO of Recruit Training for a mature, tactical gaming clan called the Sea Snipers (clan tag [SS]) and a long-time member of AVS forum...

As you may know, the Sea Snipers authored and illustrated the multiplayer sections of the Official BradyGames Guides (the books you buy at GameStop, Best Buy, etc.) for COD4 and COD World at War. You may have seen our 'Sea Sniper Tips' throughout the guides. We also worked on many of the 'Socom' game guides for the PS2.

We are currently looking for a few good men to compete in COD W@W on the Xbox 360.

The Sea Snipers are a professional gaming clan, over 6 years old. We are a tight knit brotherhood with an average age of about 30 and many of us are active or ex-military. We play 4 nights per week (2 practices and 2 wars) plus any other additional events that might be held such as inter-clan tournaments and scrimmages. All events are held at 10:30 pm est., and practices last 2 hours.

http://www.seasnipers.net/seal/s11_home_topmiddle.jpghttp://www.seasnipers.net/seal/s11_home_topright.jpg

We run our own league called S.E.A.L. (Sea Snipers Evade & Assault League www.seasnipers.net/seal) and we're going on our 12th season. The league is played with hardcore rules and no perks - making COD a squad-based, non-respawn tactical shooter, rather than the run-and-gun style of play that you find in most public rooms.

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for a tryout...

• Must be 21 or older.
• Must be able to attend Sunday (from 10:30pm est till 12:30), Monday, Wednesday (from 10:30pm est till 12:30) and Thursday night events. (mon and thurs are matches and usually only last about 1hr.)
• Must be able to deal with our "Virtual Boot Camp" for 1 month.
• Must be willing to change your XBL name during the recruitment process. (you can change it back to whatever you like if recruited)
• Must have a router.
• Must have AIM.
• Must not be in any other clan during recruitment, and cannot be in any other clan if recruited.

If you want to be part of one of the most professional, top-tier clans in gaming, please enlist today. Send an email to shooter@seasnipers.net

Thank you.

It's a good group of guys and we have a lot of fun. I'm going on 5 years with the clan, and it's been great.

When I started, Socom II for the PS2 was the game we played. Here's a clip of me accidentally teamkilling my squad on Socom 3...

Also, working on the guides is fun. We get betas way before the general public. Sometimes we get to visit the development studio.
The last guide for COD W@W turned out really cool, it's on great paper, lots of pics, real nice book.

Sea Snipers, I haven't seen you guys around since SOCOM 2. Probably don't remember but we were an alliance clan that played with you guys all the time. The clan we ran at the time was [PHS] Perfect Headshots.

Also nice job on the strategy guides.

I used to do FPS tournaments and it was great fun but once you have a wife and children these type of things can end up consuming way too much time that should be spent with family (especially one as dedicated as Shooters group is) . No offense , I am just saying that gaming on this level can have a negative impact on family life .

Sure, I do remember you and [PHS]. Socom I & II was really an event in gaming that won't happen again. There was ONE console and ONE squad based shooter out at the time. So, if you weren't on PC, you were playing Socom. I do miss everyone from Socom, but there are some great people playing COD as well. Thanks for the note on the strategy guides. We couldn't do the Socom: Confrontation guide because of the COD W@W guide being at the same time, so we were disappointed about that.

Isn't this the 5th thread you've created just to promote your clan?
We've had several active duty guys head off to the sandbox and other points abroad fighting the good fight.

We keep them in our thoughts, and our clan has been raising money to send care packages directly to our guys in the desert, with extra stuff for their squadmates. Our newest recruit completed a dart tournament fundraiser that went very well, kudos to him.

So, we've been recruiting on and off for a year to fill these spots. And, yes, I've put up a couple of posts. I'm not promoting my clan for promotion's sake; I'm just trying to find quality guys to fill the spots vacated because of the war.

We're looking for tactical, adult players. My thoughts are that WE (the AVS COD guys) fit that bill. I've gotten some good responses from this forum, so thank everyone for that.

Very true. It does sound like it would be fun and would probably help me get better at the game, but I would probably end up having to either give up everything else I like to do each week or end up in divorce court.

For single guys though, it sounds great.

My friends and I play most nights for a few hours. We generally only play Hardcore TDM. I know we have played several of your group at different times. I remember the SS tags. Would never play with anyone but my boy's but if your looking for some good guy's to beat up on or try some tactics on shoot me a PM. Good luck.

I'm betting that no one in this clan is:

A. Married
B. Has children
C. Insert anything here

I'm sure you guys are very good at what you do but I'm guessing 90% of people cant "measure up" to your clan standards or cant sacrifice the time.

I stopped playing Everquest after a year and half stint because it got to be too much like work...kinda like what your rules are for playing a game.

Good Luck mates!

Guys, interesting comments.

To quell your fears about us being basement dorks: Most of our guys are married, 30+ years old, a number of ex-military and active military. We look at COD nights as our "bowling nights". A few guys do have kids, and we work to make sure family comes first for them. Family, job, clan - that's the right order.

We look for dedicated individuals looking for a strong brotherhood. Think of it as comparable with other similar organizations, like fraternities or private clubs (Elks, Lions, Eagles, Moose, etc.) but with a gaming theme.

One of our recruits made that video; he was assigned that task as one of his recruit taskers. He's still tweaking it...

I actually wouldn't mind talking to you about joining as I used to play the BF series and CS with a clan competively but unfortunately I'd never meet the requirements as I travel atl east 40 weeks out of the year, home every weekend type situation.

Good luck though...

Guys,

As a recent tasker, one of our recruits was instructed to replicate the 'Buffalo Bill' dance from Silence of the Lambs.

He did a good job! (the orders were 'waist-up', no tuck-walk, etc.)

Yes, that would be correct. We don't use modded controllers and they are officially banned from competition in our S.E.A.L. League (www.seasnipers.net/seal)

It's our hope that many of the mature, hardcore clans will also take this position. I do see a LOT of modded controllers in public rooms, and I do believe that these controllers offer an unfair advantage, making the powerful semi-auto guns into full autos. And the pistols full auto as well. It unbalances gameplay.

I hope you are supportive of voluntary bans on modded controllers.

We are strictly console-based, as the clan was founded during SOCOM for the PS2. There are some great PC clans out there though. And I do agree, PC gaming is where the ultra-hardcore tactical guys are. But sometimes that really isn't fun...

yup nothing is going on in the pc forums lol. I have 360 and ps3 as well as a gaming pc. I just don't play FPS on consoles. Consoles were made for sports and racing games IMO. When all games are K/M supported on the consoles, that will be a kick ass!

One thing about console gaming I hate is the little kids annoying the hell out everyone. You don't get to much of that in the pc gaming realm. A different age group because of $ of a good gaming pc vs a console. If you can get some good friends though, it makes no difference what your playing on because you'll have fun.
